This is the 2nd custom vehicle I've done. First was a Resolute themed Stinger for a JoeCon about a year or 2 back using one of those Die Cast Hummers from Target.
Anyway, taking advantage of the TRU BOGO 50% off sale, I snagged me 2 Sting Raiders. One is still in the box. 2nd one I decided to play around with. Been getting into the Python Patrol stuff for some reason lately and decided To give this a try. I was going to use Copperhead as the pilot, but I remember he doesn't really fit in the cockpit without messing his legs all up, so I used one of my Python Patrol Cobra Officers with the head and helmet repainted from the Cobra Paratrooper from the Best of the 80's DVD Pack. Enough talk, pics:

That came out nice. You python pattern looks real good. I dig the silver you threw in with the cross pattern.
Did you take it apart to get the pattern like that and if so was it a pain to do so? |

I did take it apart. Its not a pain, but take your time. Plastic bins are your friend. I found little plastic bins are great for parts you aren't going to paint, want to protect, as well as storing screws. Loosing screws sucks.
The cockpit and windsheild front are "peg melted" into places. A little careful x-acto knife work and they are free. I just glued them back in place when I was done. Other than that it was pretty breezy. Why they never made this back in the day is beyond me. Seemed like a natural choice but they gave it to the Joe team for Tiger Force instead. Go figure. Looking at it now, I think my pp pattern may actually be a bit big, but considering what I actually chose as surface to do the pattern, it looks ok. If I ever do another I'll probably correct that. Also, picked up masking tape (1/8") for the pattern. Its like $6 for a roll of 20 feet, and I used almost all of it up.

on all my Copperheads it seemed to bow the legs...so he kinda would walk like a cowboy. I suppose I could unscrew the legs, slide him in there. Right now I only have 1 Python Copperhead (he's actually in the mail enroute to me) so maybe a quick paint job to the RoC one.
