Covergirl. One of my favorite characters, probably because she never really did much. I liked the idea of a woman who got what she wanted because of her looks, but found no one took her seriously, so she joined up to become a tanker to show she had brains too!
I've been wanting to make this figure pretty much since I gave up on Hasbro getting around to it. Now that she's dead in ROC I sincerely doubt she's ever going to get the figure she deserves, so I made a couple of customs. I used an Indiana Jones figure for the jacket, TRU "Dial-Tone" for the body (camo paint removed with thinner), and the head is a combination of Helix with ROC Covergirl's hair. Only minor paint apps! My figure is 100% playable! This is something I do for all my customs. |

I like them both, but the throwback to the original I like best. You make it seem so easy, no if I can only get that jacket from the indiana jones figure, I'll try it.

A Roc related figure I'd actually buy (other than Helix). Great job!

Cover Girl is often depicted with a different color shirt to her trousers. I know in the comic it was yellow or orange-ish. I couldn't tell you what she looked like in the cartoon since I never cared to watch it; however, upon looking at the color variations of the original figure, I came to the conclusion that Hasbro was possibly trying to colour-match the shirt and trouser colour, but since the legs were cast in their respective colour and the shirt was painted, there was a slight discrepancy in tones. From that, I gleaned that they were probably supposed to be the same colour, which led me to ultimately sacrifice the only TRU Dial-tone body I had, but at least I wouldn't have to do any funky painting! I try to avoid painting joints whenever possible, 'cause I've had many situations where I repose an old custom figure and the paint chips off, and can't be easily touched up because it was a custom colour.... you get the picture. |
