For what it's worth, coming from a former grunt (11B), all of the traditional Infantry had M4's. Only our support personnel, including grunts serving in those functions, carried long arms (M-16).
Gotta figure a top notch unit like Joe would be caring M4's. Just my 2 cents I don't like the square handguards/heatshield Hasblow gave us on the 25th/ME M16 w/ the grenade launcher (YOJOE.COM | Grunt) but it's pretty good. I DO like this gun w/ Gung Ho though. Marauder's got a cool M16 w/ the Remington 870MCS "Masterkey to the city" breacher's set up ( http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/rem870mcs_ax.jpg ) Marauder's gun - M-4 Carbine Assault Rifle w/ "Under" Shotgun (1) - 1:18 Scale Weapon for 3 3/4 Inch Action Figures Pretty cool either way, I've got a lot of these for my guys. The ORIGINAL Grunt from '82-83 has got a good M16A1 mold also - YOJOE.COM | Grunt v1.5 (Swivel Arm) , but at this point, the one that came with the Duke from the Red Star comic two pack is pretty good too for a A2 - YOJOE.COM | Duke I'm still like you though, I just give most of my guys M4s from Marauder's if they don't have something specific to run with.

esg2145, I noticed that Broken Arrow is selling an M-14 with a full stock and a scope. I believe it's billed as a SEAL weapon.

That's my personal $0.02 also, but you've got to remember there was not really an M4 so to say in '82 when the Joes hit. Some people like myself like to have some A2s for some of the classic figures.

The M4 was just being introduced when I was leaving the Marine Corps. The only guys who had them back in those days were the Force Recon guys. It was a "cool" weapon and everyone wanted to have one. All of us in the regular Infantry carried M16A2's and I guess I'm just a bit nostalgic for that weapon. A lot of my Joes are equipped with M4's and other more modern weapons, but I'd like my Greenshirts to have what I considered the vanilla model. It just boils down to personal preference, I guess. |

Maruader's prices are right. He's got a M14 EBR rifle, which is almost what I want. but it's got a collapsible stock. :( I would not mind spending the $$ for the Bravo or BA one, but I want like 10 of them. Doesn't make sense like buying 10 of something from Marauder does. :(

Don't get me wrong, I would NOT want a M14 / .30 cal gun for urban / CQB, and I CAN see where the M4 is more effective here, but it's just got too many issues between the operating system (direct bolt injection) and the caliber for me. THAT SAID, my personal HD (home defense) long gun IS a .223, due to the urban setting I live in, but my platform is a M1A/M14 design, a Mini 14.
