I'm a MOC collector, so my custom fodder is limited to what can be obtained when things start going on clearance and showing up in close-out stores. Also, this means that in my Joeverse the Joe Force is substantially smaller than what it would have been in the cartoons or even comics.
To me the Joes are a branch of the US Armed Forces that occupy a light cavalry/skirmisher role. They are there as first responders, gather intel, setting up lines of communication/supply lines, disrupting the opposing forces lines of communication, all until the main US/Allied Force gets into the scene. [This was my rationale as to why the Joes only had one MBT or Dragon Fly Chopper since they were only a recon unit]. In this day and age, the Joes are assigned to Afghanaraq, which is a country in Central Asia that just had a civil war. The remnants of the democratic government, have called in the US government to assist in rebuilding the Nation as a democracy. However, a majority of the tribal/indigenous peoples are allying themselves with this radical group of cultists, the leader of which is promising a government that respects the religion of their fathers – which religion that worships the Egyptian snake god Apep [Apophis in Greek]. Due to the affinity, the cultists, headed by a guy in Cobra Armor called Serpentor, called in the organization COBRA to oust the secular corrupt government of the old Prime Minister. The US not wanting the a democratic state in the region lost, has decided to call in the Joe Force, despite the allegations of graft and abuse on the part of the Prime Minister, to deal with COBRA, until the main the Army and Marines can restore order. My Joe Alpha Squad is made up the RIA guys, who ride around in the Howler (Republic Gunship) destroying hard military COBRA targets. They are assisted by Charlie Squad comprised of Footloose, the desert themed Joes from the Movie 5pack, and a bunch of Desert Ambush Dukes as generic soldiers. Charlie Squad is the Heavy Armor unit of the Joe Force, which at the moment consists of 2 PTE Humvees, and 1 Unimax Bradley. Alpha and Charlie operate out of the MCC somewhere in the desert Baker squad, consists of Hawk and Sgt Stone, and the Pit Commandos. They roll in the ROCC and the RHINO, and police the urban centers against insurgent raids by COBRA. Assisting them is Delta Squad, the counter-terrorist and hostage rescue unit of the JOE force ala the SAS: |

That was the one good thing about ROC, in my opinion, which was the uniform look gave a more militaristic feel. Keeping that in mind, I tried to get the gear that most corresponded with what a real-life spec ops/hostage rescue unit would have, including limiting weapons that to close combat armament such as sub-machine guns or shot guns.
With one exception, the Unit Leader Flint - no reason he should have a trench coat and no helmet, but he has to look cool for the journalists. |

the XO: Shockblast
Originally, this was going to be his command, before I got an extra Flint head, and so he would be allowed to not have a helmet and just wear a cap. Now, to compensate, he decided he should be a one man army and installed a grenade launcher on his auto-shot gun. I figure, the launcher is for when he needs to throw his tear gas extra far. |

Code Name: Lone Gunman
Mission: Sniper; he takes positions apart from the main squad in order to cover them, or else take out targets prior to entry of the main squad. He always had to fend for himself after the first shot, so he's a bit bitter and a loner. However, his gun is combo sniping/assault rifle ... so really he just likes to complain. |

Codename: Pointman
Mission: After a breach/point of entry has been made by the sqaud, he is the first man in. Yeah, there has been many Pointmen before him, and he is actually No.5, but he doesn't know that. The rest of the squad won't even bother learning his real name is and just call him No.5 ... they say it's because of the movie Short Circuit. |
