Yeah, my customs are stored separately because I'm careful of paint wear, but when I do get them out, they get shuffled in with the rest that are displayed. It's my goal that they hopefully blend. My desk right now has about 20 customs out, and I asked my girlfriend which were customs, and she only picked out 3 or 4. When I told her all of them were, she said "God, you've spent too much time on this that you've actually gotten to being able to fool me." She then rolled her eyes and left the room. S |

I can't customize for sh** so my customs would probably "fit" in as well as that hunchback guy did with the rest of the 300. LOL. But it wouldn't matter even if I had mad skills; when I look at my little Joe collection my brain would immediately pick out the custom and ostracize it from the rest of the group. I think a part of me would always prefer an inferior official Hasbro version over a superior custom version of any particular fig.

I like that Topside. Not a Joe I normally think of as being essential to my collection, but I'd add him in a heartbeat.

S I made him out of nostalgia's sake...Topside was one of my first Joes as a kid. He piloted my Tigershark. My next custom is going to be Major Altitude. My first Joe ever. I already have a loose Battle Copter for him. I just need to find a base body... I'm looking at the Doctor's torso and chest from the ROC line....but the only one I have is the white coat version.

Some are better than others. The worst ones, I don't even display anymore, but there are quite a few that simply after awhile, stop feeling like customs. |

Mine usually fit in right away. I also ask my girl if she can tell the difference. And she usually can't. But I only really do classic ARAH characters so it's almost a natural fit. It's just nice to see those certain characters that Hasbro never made in my collection. Good or bad.

I have a toy display and a separate custom display.
I don't modify any of my toys at all for my toy display, right or wrong, how Hasbro made em is how I display em

You're a better man than me, because how Hasbro made Cutter and Leatherneck isn't even worth displaying.

I only do ARAH figures too, for the most part. I've got a few modded figures and the select few 25th Cobras who don't have ARAH counterparts (Bazooka Trooper, Para-Viper, Wraith for example), but I don't really "create" new characters like some guys do. Nothing against them for doing that, it's just that I'm in it for the nostalgia, not to make up new dudes. |

I try to use minimal paint (and not just 'cause I'm lazy), so mine fit in pretty seamlessly.
