The only one that fit in right off the bat for me was the BP/Sarge because it was paintless and was fully playable right off the bat. So he just felt like one of the boys, the minute I was done

Wow, a lot of different replies than I actually meant.
Maybe I worded it wrong. More or less, how long does it feel for the "fresh custom" feel to wear off? Kinda like the "new kid in class"? The same could be asked for a newly added figure from Hasbro, I suppose—like when Blowtorch was added to my collection, for example. It's not exactly the same though, because the difference is that I know that the figure is a custom, and that I am biased in knowing it was put together. Regardless, it eventually wears off as feeling like a custom and eventually just becomes part of the collection. Maybe this won't translate to others. Does that help, any? Edit: Seems a few guys got what I meant. No offense, I think it may have been worded oddly... |

I always make my customs to look like they came from Hasbro. I don't overdo the detailing, and keep the colors looking factory. So everything fit's in fine.

KBH, exactly. It wasn't really a "how good is your customizing skills" question... To each his own, every Tanker has his own level of experience, and likewise expectations of how his collection appears. I myself fit into the "mediocre" range, I'd guess. Not all my customs look factory... In fact, some have that "Yep, I'm a custom" appearance, because, well, they're obvious due to lousy paint apps on my part, or ill-fitting part choices.
I likewise try to keep my Joes on a similar level of paint detail, but some guys, like the Tele-Vipers and Spirit, seemed to be lacking a LOT of paint apps in areas. I don't need every buckle to stand out, but I do like teeth and grenades on a belt to not the be same base color as their head, or belt, for example. |

I consider my customs to be art works.
Though they'd fit in just fine with my regular collection, I wouldnt want them to "get lost" in the crowd. I like to think that Topside and the Sarge would look like normal Hasbro Joes..
