Colonel Sharp was always a favorite recurring character of mine from the Sunbow cartoon series. Well dressed, authoritative, and with his trademark 'no-nonsense' attitude and mustard-colored suit, he was (for all intents and purposes) the background commander of the GI JOE team and Duke's boss for most of the first season of the show until he magically vanished and was replaced by General Hawk in season two. I always thought it was unusual that Hasbro never made an official Colonel Sharp figure given how frequently he would appear in the original Sunbow episodes, so like my Mara custom (see other threads), I decided to take matters into my own hands. I hope you all enjoy him as much as I enjoyed creating him.
More customs coming soon... Last edited by Air-tight; 08-25-2011 at 03:46 PM.. |

I always wished they'd make this guy too. Good work! What is the upper body on this guy?

That is nice! I kept thinking that it would be cool to have some of those tertiary-type characters from the cartoons or comics as action figures, but then it would end up being too much like Star Wars. This, however, looks awesome.

Thanks guys- he was tough to choose the appropriate parts for but here's what I went with:
The head, torso, arms, waist, thighs are all the I.J. Colonel Vogel figure (thighs have been heavily sanded and modified and torso has been modified) and the lower legs are Indiana Jones' himself. Ironically, the shades were by far the most difficult element of this custom to create- I hand carved and shaped them from one of those clear-blue flip caps on a 20oz Poland spring bottle, as I just couldn't find any custom glasses out there that looked suitable for the look I desired. |

While I dislike the IJ torsos normally—what with their restricted movement compared to the Joes, it actually works really well.
Colonel Sharp is one of those characters that, like you, I feel should have been made who had heavy air-time in the cartoon. The head is spot-on. Killer job. |
