So apparently the Joes resident survival expert outback was tapped to have a remake in the early 90s as part of wave 2 of the Eco Warriors subset. Hasbro decided to compress all of the sub teams into one gigantic neon clusterf*ck know as the "Battle Corps" and it damn near put them out of business.
I decided to retool the Eco Warrior Outback. I couldve painted him more "realistic" but screw that, this is the neon 90's Eco Warriors damnit! I actually really approve of Outback being assigned to the Eco Warriors. Of all the Joe's he seems like he's best fit for this team. He loves the outdoors, hunting fishing, kayaking, living off the land etc so in my eyes he wouldve probably been the only Joe to Volunteer for this assignment. I tried to get the paint sceme as accurate as possible, but I moved a few things around load plan wise and added an item or two. The original figure has Outbacks knife randomly attached to what appears to be an LBV. This is not a stable spot for a survival knife. It's what we in the business call "hollywood" Normaly this wouldnt bother me, but Outback is a survival expert and an Infantryman so he's a practical guy in the field. That being said I used legs with the knife holster on the side of the leg. Placing the knife there adds more stablility, grants easier access, and decreases it's chance of snagging something while low-crawling and coming loose. Even though I stuck with the neon paint scheme, I HATE the stupid yellow mining helmet that Hasbro gave him so i swapped it for his Olive Drab bandanna that the original figure sported back in 87 to maintain a shred of character integrity. I'm pretty sure that Outback would go along with the neon duds because he was ordered to and then get to the yellow helmet and flat out refuse to wear it. Every man has a breaking point and i think Outbacks is a neon helmet. The head i used had a beard that had a bit of grooming and man-scaping going on so i just kinda let loose with the paint brush and let it go wild a bit. Outback isn't the type of guy that's out in the field with a shaving kit, and even if he was he wouldn't "trim" his beard. He'd either shave it off or let the damn thing grow. As for the red sweatband things on his arms, wellp to be blunt I didn't have any other lower arms so roadblocks got used. simple as that. I also gave his skintone the wwe wrestler tan treatment. He's outdoors a lot and he would have a tan. The photo didn't pick up on that little detail. He's a MAN!!! Such a MaAaN!

Very Cool! I've been trying to think of parts for a new sculpt O-ring figure for this guy.
