I've seen people get good results with the peroxide method. I've also heard it works best in a clear plastic container set outside in the sun.
But as to the original question - if you want nostalgia for personal reasons, leave the stickers. If you're looking for the best, cleanest look possible for displaying, use reproduction stickers. It really depends on why you are restoring it in the first place. |

As to the canopies, they were like that when I got them. The only thing I did with those was give them a good scrubbing. I would reccommend stripping all your stickers and cleaning it thoroughly. Then you can evaluate any real problems more clearly. Thanks Thanks agian As to nostalgia, I find it's MORE nostalgic to restore it. Brings back memories to put stickers on a clean vehicle like when I was a kid.

I've used peroxide on my gray LEGOS that got faded... ...They're not perfect, but much less yellowed than they were. It dosen't seem to affect the painted details either! Great for those parts that have painted areas... |

I bought a set of stickers from Cobrastickers. They look even better than the original ones by a mile. My Skystriker unfortunately looks like it was buried for a year. A good cleaning would probably restore it. The original stickers definitely have to go. The canopy is so dark brown I doubt it will ever be clear again. Any tips on where to get a replacement? I've tried ebay, JoeArmory, JoeHeaven etc. with no luck. The ones shown here look great.

I really don't know how to get the brown out. Do you have pictures?

I restored my Stystriker with new decals also. Although mine wasnt oh so yellowed, it wasnt quite white. I pulled all the decals, used goo be gone to remove the residue, andthen waxed it with some car polish. turned out nice and shiny and white for the most part....

You'd be surprised what a good cleaning will do. Unless the Skystriker has yellowed considerably, a good cleaning goes a long way. The peroxide technique I have only seen done with figures and other small pieces. I've not seen it done with something as large as a Skystriker. Never tried it myself, could work well, just don't know.

I've been holding off on restoring mine because Hasbro said we might get the Skystriker and Dragonfly either this year or next year. Looking more like next year now. I hope it happens. I still want to redo a lot of my vintage stuff. Also want to get rid of anything I have that's not comic or cartoon related.

I will really have to look into this peroxide thing. That is looking more and more like the way to go. And it's not like it's really yellow or anything. It's actually in pretty good shape. But there is a difference in whites between the body of the jet and the engine covers. Oddly enough, the engine covers are still very much white, almost new looking. I'm just wanting to even it out a little more. Less contrast between the two.
