(EDIT: Added the list of currently planned figures to make you wonder and to make sure I work on them.)
Hey all... I thought I'd start a thread for this because I have a few customs in the can and more in the works for this new project idea. As the title reveals, it's kind of an alternate take on the Joes and Cobras, set in a somewhat post-apocalyptic future. A little bit Mad Max, with some other ideas thrown in. I don't have a lot of the details nailed-down, but those will come to me as I work on the figures. The basic premise would be GI Joe as one of the remnants of the US military, fighting back against Cobra, a gang that has somehow acquired high technology weapons and is gaining power. Zartan has sway over a large gang of nomads called the Dreadnoks, and these are also used by Cobra. Anyhow, I will be using this thread to post my figures and type up any descriptions I may have for each character. If you're looking for full-fledged fan fiction, this won't be it - it's just a premise for my custom ideas. Please feel free to critique as usual, and also suggest any ideas you might have for these alternate takes on some old characters. I'll put each figure in it's own post below, and edit the following list as I add more later in the thread, so you can check here and see how many exist... Finished: G.I. JOE - (None yet!) COBRA - Baroness DREADNOK - Zartan "OTHER" - Destro Tentatively planned and/or in the works: G.I. JOE - Hawk, Snake Eyes, Scarlett, Gung Ho, Cover Girl, Billy COBRA - Commander, Storm Shadow, Mindbender, Trooper/Viper, Scrap Iron DREADNOK - Zaranna, Zandar, Roadkill "OTHER" - Major Bludd, Jinx Last edited by blackbarn; 01-29-2010 at 02:37 PM.. |

Here's Zartan. He and his brother and sister are enigmatic individuals respected by the large nomadic gang called the Dreadnoks. The Dreadnoks are something like the bad guys you'd see in a Mad Max movie, but Zartan is a little more refined than that.

Destro may be the source for Cobra's advanced weaponry... but where does he acquire it? He is known to travel the wasteland and rumors suggest he has access to a hidden cache of high technology left over from before the apocalypse.

Favored by the warlord Cobra Commander, she is given free-reign within Cobra and can often be found hunting stray humans for sport with her loyal dog Anubis. She is the cruel and calculating adviser to the Commander. Baroness has tried tracking Destro back to his home base on occasion to discover the source of his weapons, but he has always managed to elude her, a feat few can accomplish.

Thanks for the early comments, everyone!
Ok, that's all for now, but many others are in the works, and I hope to update this thread semi-regularly. (And I will award a "No Prize" to whoever guesses what head I used for ol' Zartan...) PS: Apologies for the inconsistent lighting in the pics, I'm still learning how best to photograph figures. |
