I made this prototype flight pod from cardboard and a plastic shell from a vending machine. Only the gun is joe: It's a spring loaded gun from a ROC figure. This is only a prototype so I left off some small details, like the side-mounted missles. Still, It's pretty good for the first try: My later ones will be a lot more detailed. For example, side mounted TOW missle launchers, an all-black night attack version, or a tiger force or joe variation. And it's a good way to use the oversized spring loaded weapons that pile up unused. And,for the record, the figs fit perfectly inside it.

Looks good so far.
may use the idea myself to tide over my Cobra city base I am building until the wave 3 target pods come out.

Hey, that's a neat idea. This way you can make as many flight pods as you want! I do think the gun looks a little big on it (maybe just sticking out too far in the front? It looks like it would unbalance the craft), but it works better as a vehicle weapon than a human scale one, that's for sure.

Wow, nice scratchbuild! Question though, have you considered swapping out the ROC launcher for another gun? I think if you cut the handles off, Roadblock's .50cal might look sweet on that!

That is a wonderful custom build. I love the way you where able to pull all those parts together. Scratch built items are very cool in my book. Great job.

Nice! Scratch built stuff is the best! I agree that the gun just seems to stick out front a tad too much, but it's a great proof of concept!

Can you turn the gun sideways and then slide it back? That would let you still be able to use the button to fire the missile. the spring loaded missile launchers do work better on vehicles than in the arms of figures. I think a horde of flight pods is always a good idea.
I don't like the red hood target version, so I think this cardboard one is a definite improvement. Nice. |

The gun was just the handiest available. Any gun can be used... in fact, it opens up a lot of possibilities for weaponry... front mounted dual machine guns, missle pods, flamethrowers, etc and side mounted missles of various types, spring loaded weapons, etc... and customization... the sky's the limit. All black nightfighters, python patrol colors, CC's personal gold pod, camo painted, and tiger force, MARS industries, or even Joe colors. And the real beauty of it is the key piece, the dome, is available in ANY 50 cent vending machine. And a wild thought.. rig one with model rocket engines and see if it can fly...
