My latest effort to build decent looking displays for my figures: the COBRA LAB.
I was trying to create a glossy black floor and I sort of blundered into a technique that worked pretty well: -spraypaint a piece of corrugated cardboard with gloss black paint -cover with parallel strips of clear packing tape -rub over the tape with something hard (like a credit card or plastic tool handle). This makes the corrugation somewhat visible and gives the floor sort of a tiled effect The rest was pretty simple: cardboard, foamcore, glue, and paint. Graphics for the walls and the print-and-fold Cobra crates came from Joedios.com and were printed on a color laser printer The gas tanks are 2 empty CO2 canisters from a bike pump, The little plastic fins are missile racks from a TRU F-22 (I customized the jet to be in "stealth mode" with missiles stored internally so I didn't need the racks) The ladder and railings are made out of wooden kabob skewers and elmer's glue Last edited by Recoil84; 12-23-2009 at 08:03 PM.. |

Very nice work. Are the walls with the COBRA sigil and the steel door upstairs from another dio or did you make those as well?
I'm getting inspired, this is cool stuff. |
