This is my first post for Hisstank.com and my first custom. I have been hanging at joecustoms.com and decided to get your opinions. I started working on it the week of Thanksgiving. I normally build models so this will be my first real attempt at a true 1:18 custom. The Power Team Elite tank is just different enough for me to represent it as a different model tank than an Abrams due to it being slightly smaller compared to my Target Bravo Team M1A1 Abrams. I have from cobrastickers and I hope to get this done by Christmas. Technically this build is more like the Canadian Consumer Distributing Motorized Tank. So to start off here is the victim.
I am going to be using the fuel drums that came as accessories as auxillary tanks similar to those found on Desert Challenger Tanks and I drilled out the coax gun and filled the seams on the barrel. I added detail to the gunners site using plastic sheet. Here's something interesting. I believe the tank was intended to be electronic, or least have electronic sounds. The right "vent" on the front is actually not molded in. I removed the screws from it and the panel. I am gong to try to do something "interesting" with it. Open to ideas. Another hint of intended electronics is there are also slits that look like a speaker grill on the drivers hatch. In homage to the origianl CAT/Mobat I added a targerting do hicky to the side of the barrel made from a left over head light from an old custom Monte Carlo car model. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c191/MartianGundamModeler/Abrams%20Cobra%20CAT%20tank%20project/P1010477.jpg[/img] Krylon Fusion Gloss Black More pics to come! |

Drilled/hollowed out headlight. Will paint it silver and fill it with super glue creating a lense.
Actually I added a lot of little details on the gun mantle, where i plan to add a grenade launcher barrel like you see on hummvees, I added shield doors to the commanders sight, and I have another detail plate I am adding to the rear engine cover to create more detail. These bits were leftovers from a 1:32 scale Bradley IFV. It is really a nice tank but when you place it beside Target's bravo Team tank it just doesn't compare detail wise and scale wise. In order for it to fit in my collection I needed to make it and "experimental" Cobra tank as an excuse for the size difference between the two. When I am done I am going to call it the C.A.T. Mk 3 "Panther". It's smaller and more nimble than an Abrams...and it's black. "Canadian Consumer Distributing Motorized Tank" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.LOL |

Thanks! I still have to do add flags to teh antannea, paint and add ammo boxes, install teh rear aux fuel tanks, and add some misc decals. Here ae some size comparison shots of PTE tank and the Target Bravo Team tank.
The rear deck is plane on the PTE tank. So I added a detail panel stolen form the my 1:32 scale bradley parts bin. That is what is laying on the table. Last edited by Shadow Khan; 12-10-2009 at 04:15 PM.. |
