I never thought I'd see the day when a toy company would bring forth one of the most formidable Fighter Aircraft ever put to service: The SU-27 Flanker and it's derivative models. I remember one morning sitting in class in Naples, Italy a long time ago when I saw a copy of the Stars and Stripes. On the front page was a photo of a very sleek, very spooky looking fighter plane and the resolution was so great you could see the eyes of the Pilot. This photo was taken by a Norwegian P-3 after a collision with the mysterious plane identified as an Su-27. It wasn't just the plane which looked like it had intakes from an F-14 and a deployed speed brake from an F-15 sporting a large number '36' on the starboard side. It was the missiles that really stood out. They resembled some kind of flying Battle Axe with Trapezoidal Gillete Razor Blades for wings. This would shortly be identified as the AA-10. The photo made worldwide headlines. After seeing a few posts online of the new Power Team Elite / World Peacekeepers SU-27, I knew I had to get one. I ordered two from the UK around June and strangely, one of the planes was missing an engine. Evidently quality control was lacking. No big deal, I'll just build another one. Given my affinity for Naval Aviation... Building the Navalized SU-27 was just an expected evolution and now in the works...

Current Block I Modifications completed thus far:
- Removal and redesign of landing gear system. The stock landing gear was complete garbage. They looked more like 'hubs than wheels. - Installed Wing Folding Mechanism. (Tail is also done but not shown here) - Tailhook with X-Y rotation capabiity - - Forward Canards with mounting bracket - IRST / Infrared Search and Track Unit built. This will be installed just to the right of the forward windscreen unlike the standard SU-27s which have it centered. - Thrust Vectoring Nozzles - Full 3D Multi Axis Maneuverable. - Retractable Refueling Boom Installed on the Port side just below the front windscreen - Heads Up Display Cage built. The 'Glass' piece will be installed after painting. - Speed Brake Hydraulic Ram built and replaces the stock version which was non-functioning. Right now, the workers at the Novosibirsk Manufacturing plant are on their Vodka Break and helping themselves to Borscht. Construction currently halted until more parts arrive from the GAZ-30 Plant near Moscow. Last edited by SuperFlanker; 09-21-2009 at 02:10 AM.. |
