First I want to thank all of you for your input so far and for checking this project out. The workers are not all drunk at the factory and are still congnizant of their work quotas. Ve must stay on schedule vor our Five Year Plan. Here is a video of the Naval Flanker in Action. Or is that Propaganda? Here goes...
Pretty Bad Ass... Must have watched this a hundred times. |

I went to a Crafts shop for the Glass IRST Ball. The landing gear system has been completely re-done. I used wheels that came off a Skystriker and created a true-to-function system whereby the wheel rotates 90 degrees and folds neatly into the well, just like the actual aircraft. Currently I have the nose wheel done as a double bogey set up and it is steerable. I am still working on the rear stability arm. As with the F-14 Bombcat I had built some months back from a beat up Skystriker, the build techniques are pretty much the same. I use three types of adehsives: Testors Cement, Cyanoacrylate and Plumbers/Household Glue (Which is ridiculously strong) Anyhow, thanks for asking! |

Hey Zoomie - If it weren't for your Intel, I wouldn't have had these two Flanker Airframes! Thank you. As far as the wings go. They incorporate a hinge system and are fully functional. I have also created "locks" to keep the wings rigid when in the "deployed" position. The design was definitely a compromise between aesthetics...realism...and durability. The wing was the project that took up the most time. In fact I nearly scrapped both wings after spending over 8 hours on them. It was a total design and re-design thing. When I had 'scrapped' them, I had to re-focus at the problem at hand and then the locks were created as a result. I will probably continue work on the front landing gear tonight and also on the Avionics / Flight Instrument panels. By the way, when your carrier becomes commissioned into the fleet, I'll have to have both the VF-103 Bombcat and this SU-33 come in for a visit!. Great Job on your carrier and again you're right...I ought to take care of the 80 aircraft for your CVWs.

Well, here's what I'm working on... and I'm way behind. Hopefully, this will fill out my carrier wing pretty well:
That's 5 Skystrikers, 2 F-35s, an X-30, an Su-33, and a Blackhawk. Along with two rattlers that I haven't decided if I'm going to make them part of carrier wing yet. Of course, none of them will have the detail that yours will have, but that's besides the point. There'll always be room for a few more birds if I would be graced by their presence one day...
