I finally finished my Zarana to go with Zandar and Zartan. I was almost finished, and her head wobbled just slightly, and long story short, in trying to fix it, I was stupid and sheered the neck clean off.
So Mad Joe is sending me a second upper torso, but in the meantime I spliced in a new neck, but had to paint the upper torso flesh, which I was trying not to do. Mad Joe's kit is AWESOME, he was able to match the Hasbro flesh tone perfectly on my kit. More about that when I list the "recipe". Last edited by Mandingo Rex; 09-17-2010 at 02:36 AM.. |

Zarana's a bit of an Amazon, but until Hasbro makes her, this is the only one I've got. She dwarfs the other Joe ladies, but I always imagined Zarana as kind of a butch "Russian Swimmer" type chick, broad shouldered, mean, and kinda husky. At least that's how mine is, for now. Here she is with her twin and the other Hasbro chicks. She looks better not standing directly beside them, as you can see: |

Looks great. I'm still wondering why Hasbro has not done 25th one yet though. Come to think of it they have only made three girls so far. Man this toy line is a total sausage fest.

I want to give a shout out to Mad Joe again, his kits kick ass for Zandar and Zarana. Without his kits, I wouldn't have attempted these guys.
I don't like having a bunch of figures with the same heads, so I don't like using existing Joe heads for other figures unless they're rather generic to begin with. While there are a few heads that work okay for Zandar, I haven't seen one yet that works well for Zarana. The hair sculpt is perfect on Mad Joe's kit, and the torso is pretty damn awesome to boot, but the head is spot-on. Check them out, you won't be disappointed: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...etro-head.html http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...ustomizer.html |

Bit of warning, the material is resin, so it needs a little work as it doesn't stretch like Hasbro plastic, so it won't give. It's also more brittle, so be careful.
I sheered off the neck (I'll repost new pics when I get the new upper torso with the appropriate neck), and due to the resin, it shatters, it doesn't dent or scratch. I hope it inspires others to reach out to Mad Joe, because I'm definitely happy as hell with how they turned out, despite my few idiotic mistakes. |
