i've discussed wanting to do this project in my other custom python patrol project threads; Python Patrol Aradillo, Python Patrol Skyhawk and Python Patrol Vamp.
i got the 25th mobat disassembled, cleaned and a good solid burgandy base coat painted today. it's going to seem odd to do a yellow canon barrel but that's the general motif for python patrol so that is what i'll do. worst case, i repaint it later. hopefully tomorrow i'll get some more work done the yellow/black bits. getting the pattern done is going to take some time given my work schedule.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. I think the yellow you've done in the past has been stunning, so I'm confident the MOBAT is going to rock.
I've sometimes considered doing some Python Patrol repaints that match the actual deco on the figures -- I know there were some figures done in the later lines that featured the black and red mesh of the vehicles, but other than that it always perplexed me that most PP figures were green and yellow and most PP vehicles were black and red. Your past projects turned out great! I can't wait to see how this one turns out.
Have you ever considered pythonizing a Rattler? I always thought that would be the logical move for Cobra, but I have never seen anyone try it. |

Your other PP vehicle customs are awesome, looking forward to seeing a Mobat joining your PP arsenal.

i have thought about a python patrol rattler but i could not find any when they went on clearance so they are now gone and cost prohibitive.
there are a bunch of details that i'd like to paint on this mobat as well. otherwise, it will look like a big patterned brick. i also choose to leave portions the base burgandy which will need accessory details painted. i still have to stripe the turret but as fast as the base went, it shouldn't take too long but the faceted geometry may take more time. i was surprised i got the base done as quick as i did. i have an idea i'd like to try for detailing the wheels too that i have not done before. main canon looks funny :( i tried to keep the yellow to a minimum but it still look akward. maybe when its reassembled and in context with other python patrol vehicles it won't look so bad. i'm also waiting for cobrastickers to get thier latest python patrol sticker sets printed so i can redo my others and complete this one. i'd like to replace my home printed stickers.

the rear of the mobat has soo much stuff going on in the back that i decided leave a chunk of it burgandy. i'll be painting some detail stuff so it doesn't appear so bland.
maybe because i've done this a couple times now but this whole part went much faster than i recall the others. by far the simplest part. just a burgandy base coat as most gets covered by the upper shell. this stuff was easy to. i'll have to finish the pattern on the main shell first so i can align the pattern on the turret top.

here is the completly masked main shell.
here is my controversial main canon. i'm not happy with it when you see it alone but i'm hoping it will fit in better. i didn't want a full solid color piece. i cut the yellow back into the larger portion of the barrel so it at least blends into each other.

I have been keeping track of your customs , and I gotta say they just keep getting better and better! The fact that you also spend the time with your kids doing this is just awesome , but the one post is right, we just might have to find you a rattler to do. Looks like I'm gonna have to go on the hunt and see what I can find,lol.-mark
