Okay, here I go!
This here is the next creature that touched my heart and made me pee myself a little with its hilarious insanity. For those unfamiliar, this guy is from the Arise, Serpentor, Arise! sunbow miniseries. Cobra Commander sabotages Dr. Mindbender's attempt to create Serpentor, and this violent mound of crimson rage is born. The base figure is a Marvel Universe Thing, since the line is closely related to G.I.Joe, and his rocky texture was a good start towards simulating the lumpy mess that is this monster. I found Super Sculpey nice to work with, but very brittle, so I tried some Epoxy Putty. Not Apoxy Putty, as that would have been the intelligent thing to do, and I am very cheap with this sort of thing. Sooo...this Epoxy Putty, which is for plumbing and repair, dries in like a minute or 2. Since I'm not the Flash, it is a minor miracle that I managed to add more texture to the body and completely to the waist and legs. Head(with the exception of a spot of forehead), feet, and tentacle spike things are all sculpted as well. I also added claws and an additional finger to each hand because Thing's only got 4 fingers on each hand, and I am that anal. Anyway, please enjoy or become angry with another piece of cartoon craziness! I think it turned out perfectly, but that's only because the thing is animated somewhat badly and inaccurately, so a ball of play-doh with googly eyes would have been pretty damn close as well. |
