Classified COMIC COLOR COBRA OFFICER custom by TT8L (DEC24 custom 5 of 31)
One custom for every day this December 2024. Figure 5 of 31.

Repaint of Cobra Officer but the raised Cobra emblem has been ground off and replaced with a decal which I prefer the look of. Rifle comes from Marvel Legends Crosshair. You'll notice I don't have the patience to heat up and remove straps and harnesses so I cut and re-glue them, I try to fill in the gaps or glue them close enough it isn't too noticeable but when it's on the back sometimes I forget to go back and fix it as is the case here.


I really love the color of the straps - I will come back and edit this with info when I find out what paint brand and color I used because to my eye it's just about perfect for a "comic" version without being garish.


EDIT: I found out what color I used. It was Mr. Color Lacquer C039 Flat Dark Yellow (Sandy Yellow) C39

Cannot even tell where the old insignia was ground off. Was expecting to see a bunch of Dremel gouges like one of my customs or at least a smooth surface, but you made that thing just vanish and the decal blend right in.

I use a razor to shave off as close to flush as possible then rough sand by hand a bit then use a wetted fabric polish/buffing attachment on the dremel to smooth it over more.



I used the same process on my Scarface and you can see that on Scarface it didn't come out as smooth - I didn't sand it enough, but in person on the shelf they both look good to me, I didn't notice until I took these up close pics.

I generally avoid looking at the Classified Series customs, as that will make me want to start buying them, then customizing them. But your Cobra Officer and Scarface made me take a look.

Amazing work on both of them.

One thing I really don't care for on the Classified Cobra solder/officer uniforms is how overly complex they are with the texturing and patterns. The original designs looked like CC was trying to build a budget army by decking out wanna-be soldiers in blue custodian uniforms topped off with army surplus gear.

By grinding off the sculpted Cobra logo and replacing it with the sticker, you've really recaptured the vibe that the Cobra soldier/officer should have. It's a customizing step that you could have easily skipped, but its importance is really outsized to the effort.
