Dominic Santini completes my Wolfhowl project, which reimagined Airwolf and the GI Joe Howler from ROC as a hybrid. 2024 is the 40th anniversary of Airwolf.
Because Santini and Stringfellow Hawke have the same body, I gave them a few color difference. Santini has grey half-gloves; Hawke has black full gloves. Santini has a grey pistol; Hawke's is black. Different button colors on the forearm mystery devices. And a sculpted muffin top for Santini. This has been a fun project. I wrapped it up fairly early in the year compared to my The Bad Guys (2022) and The A-Team (2023) 40th anniversary projects, which both featured many figures. Airwolf had a new roster of characters in its 4th season, but it was so horrible it doesn't even deserve honorable mention. |

Cool concept and execution!
When I first happened upon some of your earlier work I didn't quite get it. They were some of your customs with great sculpting and paint work, but with less articulation. I always try to maximize the articulation in order to pla... er pose my figures. Now after seeing more of your work, I really appreciate and admire your vision and imagination. You make less desirable custom fodder into works that range from highly accurate to the source material to highly imaginative recreations and original work. Thanks for sharing your creations!

This is honestly some of your best work. The sculpt is top-notch along with how smooth the paint is. Great parts choices as always.

Outstanding work as always!! Really enjoy seeing your creations. And I agree with your thoughts on the 4th season of AirWolf…it was hard to watch.

You make less desirable custom fodder into works that range from highly accurate to the source material to highly imaginative recreations and original work. Thanks for sharing your creations! The Archangel figure in the set, the one in the suit, is made from a Super 7 The Office figure. It was a brand new figure, but a low POA one, so it was more like working with a Kenner SW figure. It's the clunker of the figures, because the suit jacket really needs to be a floating piece and the knees don't have articulation. So sometimes using older style figures is a detriment. Now that I've seen the new Joy Toy suit figure (or the Marauder suit figures), I know I'll have to pick some up at some point. But, instead of doing Archangel the right way, I hid the laziness behind the trench coat. My next custom is a Classified Blue Ninja, in 1:18 scale, downgraded to 4 POA using junk parts, so I clearly embrace using fodder pieces. |

Sculpting can be funny. When I sculpted Dominic's belly, it looked too big and a bit distended. But once the belt was in place and the paint went on, the belly and love handles could have been a bit bigger. But it's still noticeably different from Hawke's midriff, so I'm satisfied with it. The age lines are mostly done with paint, and those took lots of narrowing and narrowing of the lines to get them right. |
