Destron- combination of Megatron and Destro. New concept.


I thought it?d be rad to use the GI Joe Tranformers crossover as a foundation for an original concept (SB- see you pay respects to inspiration instead of claiming them as your own)

With that said, a brand new idea formulated. Instead of a dated Destro with Mars tech and a brief case, working hand and hand with Decepticons, I thought let?s utilize Transformers as an armor for Destro himself.

And none other than the main man himself made sense. Megatron.

To do this , I used magnets to interchange his hands , which worked beautifully. All hand painted which took time (no dry brushing, minimal wash) the paint apps took the longest.

Wow, that is a fantastic Destro mash-up with a Transformer! I really dig it! No disrespect, but the purple and silver makes him look like he is more of a mash with Shockwave though, to me anyway, which is an equally lethal big gun from the Decepticons. Maybe it's just me though... Love the weathered looking steel, which has just the right amount of wash to make it look like metal without it being overly oxidized.

The purple and silver really go well in making this Destro feel more like a collaborator with the Decepticons. I look forward to seeing what other characters you combine for this series of customs.

(FYI: I am not a big Transformers guy, though I always saw the merit in the line and respect those who do enjoy it. So take my thoughts on this looking like Shockwave over Megatron with a grain of salt. I am just remembering when I was working at a Children's Palace as a teen and the big purple gun that was Shockwave being a character in the Action Figure aisle.)

Preciate it bro! Yea his color scheme was inspired by Prime Megatron- IMo the best version of Megatron ever made. I like his with silvers and purples.

They also made a Destro figure with Purples and a vest, kind of stupid looking but I wanted to honor that as well.

Transformers is 100% worth checking out. Just be careful Becuase if you grow to love it, that hobby costs twice as much as the GI joe hobby.

Basically, just Megatron as an entirely Cobra creation. No transforming or anything. Mindbender had created him as a sort of super advanced BAT, with an AI system that became self aware. So Megatron is his version of Ultron. I was going to try doing some sketches but didn't have time. Going off the classic cartoon colors I was thinking anything that his face would be a lighter shade of silver than everything else. I wasn't sure about what parts would be good, but my main inspiration was a few years ago when I tried to put a Resolute Cobra Trooper helmet on a 50th Destro. Kind of the same silohette. For the body I had no ideas until this week when I saw a new Iron Man Mark II figure. And pick out a huge cannon to stick to his right arm.
