Well folks, here it is. My last pulp-inspired customs for a while, and I wanted to go out on a duo I've been wanting to do since I started this: The Lone Ranger and Tonto
The Lone Ranger Tonto Together The Reid Family Famous sidekicks All together I have to give two special shout outs. Flint_rocks, yours is the gold standard of Lone Ranger customs. You made it look effortless and I was inspired by your custom. Second, and most imporant is ARBCO Avenue. Since I'm terrible at sculpting masks--and sculpting in general, I needed help with the Lone Ranger head. ARBCO reached out and offered to help create a head based on the Clayton Moore version of the Lone Ranger and knocked it out of the park, even going so far as to mention the neck hole might need some modifying when I get it. I don't have a dremmel, so I did the best I could, but to even mention it was very much appreciated. ARBCO goes above and beyond in terms of customer service. The good news is, I've made most of the pulp and pulp-inspired characters I want. The better news is that while these two are the last for a while, I'm not giving up customs. I got life things going on which need my attention and I have to watch my money, but if I have an idea I want to do, I'm definitely going to see what's possible. Thank you all for your kind words as I've rolled these out. It's been just as much a joy to see your reactions as it's been making them. |

Nice to see some familiar characters from the past, especially done in 1:18 scale these days! All of the figures are well done, with parts that fit well together. The only suggestion I would make would be on Kato, due to his "bib" part of his shirt sticking out at the edges: I recommend using a hair dryer to heat the bib up, then when it is soft, gluing down those edges. I think it would help Kato out, but that is just my opinion. Kudos on the throwback to the days of yester-year and all that!

Yes!
My first exposure to Lone Ranger was the 1981 movie. I was too young to understand that it was a box office disappointment. I saw it in HBO back in the day and loved it. I love your interpretations. Ranger?s blue is really nice. Great use of parts for Tonto. I also agree with the others, I think your Seth Rogan is awesome! Hang on, what? 1936?! Wow, Seth Rogan is OLD!

That 1981 movie was riveting when I was a kid. I couldn't believe Preacher Jim could be such a ratbag! You can't go wrong with the Lone Ranger and I hope we see him and his trusty sidekick presented one more time as properly as you've created them here.

Thanks for the shout out, Superby. You put a lot of nice work into all of them, my man! That’ll make a great shelf display since they look so good together!

These are so brilliant. I've been a Lone Ranger fan as long as I can remember. Used to watch the old TV show in syndication and had a decent collection of the Gabriel 9-inch toys. I also remember the '81 film fondly, and that Christmas I got just about the entire 1/18 toy line for the movie. Those figures were stout.
You've made an excellent homage to one of my all-time favorite properties. |

If you're stepping away for a bit, these are great send-offs.

wOW! Thank you all for the kind responses. When I get back from vacation, I'll take some pictures of all the customs I've done that are on my shelf.
