I decided to make a more movie-accurate Retaliation Cobra Commander than the one we got.
Like most people, I started with a Winter Soldier Red Skull figure. It's already pretty close to the look of the Retaliation CoCo design, but needed some tweaks to be more suitable. I've seen some people just use it straight and put the Retaliation head onto it, but I wanted to go further. I cut off part of the coat for a more movie-accurate look, then sculpted over the belt buckle with some kneadatite/green stuff and removed the fingerprints with some alcohol (which, protip, is a really bloody good technique) before letting it cure, sanding it down a little when it was solid. While I was at it I removed the other Hydra insignia on his shoulders with some alcohol mixed with Tamiya lacquer thinner. I also managed to cut off his hand and re-attach it at a better angle than the "grasping and crushing someone's testicles" position. After a lick of Tamiya flat black and the removal of some of the buttons, the base body was done. The head is 3D printed. I bought it off eBay from a guy who specialises in 3D printing, though I did have to request him to print specifically in 1:18 scale instead of 1:12 which was the default. To make the head sit better on the body, I used some more kneadatite and used it to form a tighter ball socket. Painting the Cobra insignia at this scale was an indescribably painful experience. ...actually, wait, I've got a way to describe it: Where's Waldo on the NES. If you know, you know. After repainting the visor since the first attempt was... bad, I finally ended up with this end result. Not too bad if I do say so myself. Solid 7/10 I guess.

Cool I used the same concept some years back but with a Retaliation CC figure head. It was not 100% accurate to the movie but did the job.

Hah, yours was one of the customs that inspired this one. You did a good job even if it wasn't super duper film-accurate (though mine isn't amazingly accurate either, just a touch more than some others out there).

Looks good. His helmet was fantastic. That page really led me down a rabbit hole of possibilities. Thank you!

I'd say your efforts were well worth it because this came out great. Nice use of the Red Skull body and very creative tweaks to make him more movie accurate. Love this!
