So, I'm a huge fan of the original Cobra Commander figure, right? I love it to bits, and it looks really cool. Unfortunately, the original figure was heavily out of my price range, so I settled for a V2 Cobra Commander which was way cheaper.
Oh hey, something's odd about this one. Yeah, the pelvis broke on me the moment I got him out of the envelope back in I think '19 or '20 (this photo's more recent than that), and I was devastated. So I ended up repairing it with some epoxy putty. This never really sat right with me, so I bought another. But that leaves me with a question: What do I do with the other one? Well, I had the idea to make him into the 1997 Prototype Cobra Commander from that diorama image way back when. The colours are already pretty close, so... A quick lick of paint and we've got this! However, it's very incomplete. Why? The head. This one's got the stupid dopey cowl on his face so he looks like an utter dweeb or someone who's incredibly, incredibly tired. If only I had a V1 I could use for the head. ...oh fuck. Yeah, I bought a V1 that was in mediocre-to-alright condition last year! Now what? Well, mould and cast the head! ...it took me a year to do that. I decided to buy some silicone online and some resin from my local Kmart, and made a bunch of moulds. I got like, two salvageable castings out of the four I pulled, and filled in all the air bubbles I could with epoxy putty before sanding and painting the head. Now I've got this. After like a year and three quarters, I've finally FINALLY finished this stupid custom. I'm honestly pretty happy with how it turned out, even if the head isn't the best quality. The copper paint I use from Tamiya never wants to go on very smooth even after using specific acrylic thinner, but y'know, it gets the job done. Oh yeah, I also got the Retro O-Ring Coco too. Nice.

Wow, nice man. That's quite the CC lineup you've got there.
When was the retro figure released? I don't know that one.

By the way, that's not even my entire O-Ring CoCo lineup - V5 and V6 aren't in the pic since they weren't the right mould to go next to the rest. :P

Love that you did your own casting (super jealous, by the way).
It is good to see some O-ring love around here. Great job on this. Kudos!

That is fantastic work, JoMaster! This is one that Hasbro should've done when they did the mold for the 2022 figure. Nice to see someone did it, and did it really well!

https://www.amazon.com/Joe-Collectio...s%2C110&sr=8-4 That CC is maybe the best version of the character ever released, and a 2005 comic pack head is all that Duke needs to be great as well. |

Nice job! I Like your rather obscure selection of a Cobra Commander to make too. Those 97/98 years were an interesting time for us Joe fans!
