Got a 5 inch line scaled Buzz Lightyear Zyclops on clearance and went to work making it into a giant Cobra Robot. Went with Black, silver, and red paint to match the '85 and ROC Black snake Armor and added some decals from my fodder bin.
Made a fun little discovery while taking pics that the open claw can perfectly grip a 25th Bat's backpack. If you plan on picking one of these up to customize note that you will need to pry apart the torso to take it apart. There are no screws holding it attached but it is very hard to pry apart and some plastic was damaged when I did it. Several plastic pegs also broke off. I had to go back and fill in damaged pry gaps with milliput and replace a couple plastic pegs with cuts from model kit frames I keep for just such an occasion. Also worth noting is that the missile firing button is unpaintable plastic, spray paint wont even adhere to it, I had to use sharpy to color it. The gripping claws seem to made of a different type of plastic as they remained very sticky feeling even after drying, I eventually had to seal the claws in mod podge to fix that. Very happy to have a giant robot to put in my Joe display after all these years. Was so happy with the way it turned out I went ahead and ordered one of the 14 inch Buzz Lightyear Zurgs amazon is clearancing out for $9.99 to make another giant cobra bot out of someday. That robot looks really neat next to your BATs and Snakes.
Good job. Sounds like it was a tough problem to solve. You know what it looks like to me? That pre-BAT PIT-buster robot from issue #3.

Not trying to say that ROC was a great movie (it was OK to good IMHO), just pointing out that the original Marvel comics weren't as "real world" as some remember. Jason |
