Doctor Sidney Biggles-Jones was made with a The Batman Catwoman figure's body with a Scarlet version 12 head (ROC Scarlet) and some spare GI Joe goggles for lab safety. I couldn't find a coat to make a labcoat for her so I went with what she wore under it. Hopefully I can eventually get a cloth goods labcoat for her.
This was supposed to be a quick custom from parts left over from other projects but ended up being a pain to do. Turns out spinmaster did not use a standard ball joint on the Catwoman figure but instead a tiny ball on a peg that wont fit any Joe heads. To make matters worse the peg is firmly attached in the torso with a hole attached to the peg inside that holds the chest together. The standard Boil and Pop will not work, the peg is super thin so it stretches and the ball rips off in the head. Then you couldn't just pull the the peg out of the figure since it is attached inside the chest, and this results in the figure almost cracking apart as can be seen by the neck gap on Biggles. I had to result to drilling the entire ball on a stick balljoint out of the chest with a dremel tool resulting in some slight damage to the front of the figure that had to be filled in. A new balljoint for the neck was made out of lego. The first paint job failed to stand up to movement. Every joint on the figure is super tight so I had to sand the hips and upper thighs to keep paint from rubbing off, the arms are sadly too thin for my dremel tools to sand so the figure will always have some small paint chips where the arms bend and where her shoulders meet the body. Given all the problems that I ran into with what should have been a simple boil and pop and repaint I'm ok with how she turned out. I can not recommend using the Catwoman figs currently on clearance for custom bases as the construction is not customizer friendly. Unless you want to make the short-haired version of Mistress Armada (which basically only needs some orange glasses to turn Catwoman into her), or if you have another custom idea that can use the head and body as is with little painting. The Catwoman head is great custom material though as the tiny hole where the ball joint connects can easily be drilled to fit Modern style bodies. Catwoman's head makes a great female Doc base or short-haired Mistress Armada. Last edited by sisco; 11-30-2022 at 06:19 AM.. |
