After making a set of the figures "missing" (Clutch, Flash, Grand Slam, Hawk, and Steeler) from the 1997 Star and Strips Forever set, I decided that Rock 'n Roll needed a do-over. Hasbro's was a mess.
Since I'm going to end up doing new versions of the original team to replace the SASF set, here's the next, Short Fuze. Breaker should have gone next because that SASF figure was horrible, but I changed some design stuff at the last minute and had to wait for some parts. After Scarlett, Short Fuze was probably the best of the set. (Scarlett and Snake-Eyes were okay, but somewhat meh). So this is one I could have skipped, but I thought I could do better than Hasbro gave us. It's inspired by the SASF one in that it has a vaguely desert patterned uniform. Aside from the push molds of the arm pouches (from a NS Dusty), all of the pieces are early ARAH. Last edited by Clockwise; 11-03-2022 at 07:03 AM.. |

I loved that Stars and Stripes set when it first came out, and I agree their rock n roll and breaker were horrible. They all could have been better. Anyways I love your customs man. Really improving on what hasbro should have done and I?m REALLY diggin that RnR!

This Short Fuze is so cool! Love the build, then the tan, brown & greens that you chose & painted so cleanly pop so well off each other! Just an excellent version of a classic character!
So much fun seeing you add the missing members & make improvements to some of the ?what were they thinking? choices of the official set. Haha. You always take on such interesting projects across all of Joe?s / 1/18th toy history. Haha, I plan on doing modern builds of that Stars & Stripes set when Marauder gets the Vietnam stuff out. I can?t wait to take on those goofy paint apps that they chose.

Very nice. The SASF set never came out in Canada I believe and I ended up driving to the US to get it. I was so excited about the set until I got it in hand. Well, at least Breaker and RnR were huge disappointments.

Hasbro planted a few seeds, but more on the box artwork than the figures themselves. That's where the Rock 'n Roll design came from. |
