As I started reading about Doc Savage and discovered he was basically the perfect human and stood 6'8 and weighed in at 275 lbs I knew he would be a challenge to make and have him keep that size and along with the iconic ripped shirt and his bronze skin.
I sculpted the pec muscles and the ripped shirt and the hair. It didn't turn out terrible and I learned from my first experience sculpting ripped clothing so that is a positive. Doc Savage ![]() ![]() ![]() With some other great pulp characters (only Lone Ranger, Tonto and Mandrake are customs besides Doc) While I've made customs of Flash and the Phantom for my Defenders of the Earth customs I went with their Bossfight more pulp appropriate costumes here. ![]()

Already told you when I saw the teaser but I think you did a fantastic job with Doc! You are really getting good at sculpting body parts and muscles, then equally as impressed with your first go at ripped clothing. Such a cool head for the character.
Then seeing the group shot......you accomplished your goal of making him feel imposing! Such a fantastic group, the BF figures blend perfectly with your customs to make for a super cool vintage toy style display. I keep forgetting which of their Hero line figures that you picked up so now I have an easy pic to reference! Really making me want that Flash, Tarzan & Phantom! I had them preordered and then canceled due to spacing issues.....but they do look pretty fantastic! Haha.

I think I saw this on Facebook but not the individual photos. Outstanding work!

This looks amazing dude, it’s inspiring me to do more sculpting! Looking at your custom and some other photos of the character makes me want to do one for my collection as well.

Thanks man. I would love to see your take on him as I am always inspired by your customs.

I keep staring at how you did the mask on the Lone Ranger and think "This is amazing!"

Thanks. I actually thought it would be a lot harder to sculpt than it was. I know you've knocked out several pulp guys on your list like Dick Tracy and the Shadow, but if you're still looking to add the Green Hornet that would be one solution to find a head you like and sculpt the mask. Then just toss on an Indy hat. Honestly I'm not an expert on the Green Hornet so I'm assuming an Indianan Jones hat would work.

Dude when it comes to group shots you seem to have mastered the skill beautifully capturing all that awesomeness you've already created! Doc Savage is out of this world, the sculpting, paint and all fine details led to a flawless execution of one of my all time favorite characters. Keep them coming!!

Good stuff!
The sculpting on the clothing really sells the whole thing. |
