Thanks, everybody!
Next up is... Colonel Brekhov Notes and recipe after the pics. Recipe Body, legs, upper arms: MTF WWII Soviet Soldier (torso modified) Lower arms: MTF tan, rolled sleeves Head: Custom cast Tommy Lee Jones from eBay seller Gear: MTF Vodka bottle: AVAC's lab Hasbro never gave us a decent Col. Brekhov. The '98 Red Star re-deco was still just Red Star. The '05 Comic Pack Brekhov got really close, but suffered from Comic Pack Pinhead Syndrome (CPPS). The Modern Era '12 convention set Brekhov is a fine figure, but this is not my Brekhov (#notmybrekhov). Col. Brekhov doesn't wear a tie (unless he's using one as a tourniquet). He might wear a coat with a popped collar, but where are the sweat stains under the arms? And is that a sharp crease in those jodhpurs? GTFO. Nah. Brekhov should look like he hasn't changed his clothes in 9 months. The very sight of him should evoke a powerful aroma of tinned sardines and wet cigarette butts. Above all, his facial expression should broadcast loudly and unmistakably, "can we please wrap up this mission so I can go home, kick my boots off, and take a long soak in a tub full of cheap vodka? That's what I was going for, at least.

Wow! Love that collar! Stellar work.
You are spot on with those rolled up forearms. Much less formal and much more appropriate. Overall, an extremely close likeness to the issue #6 cover. Wonderful.

Thanks, Rob!
Today's entry... Daina Notes and recipe(s) after pics. Not a lot of customization on this one. The head cast (based on a character from a video game called Resident Evil, I'm told*) was purchased pre-painted from a seller on ebay and the rest is mostly unaltered Planet Green Valley Part. Still, sometimes, there's not a lot to be done to get the desired effect. In a small handful of comic book panels, Yearbook 2 established Daina's infectious mix of hyper-competence, borderline sociopathy, and--yeah, I'll admit it--pin-up girl sexiness**. In the process, it made at least one fan for life. I've always wanted a decent Daina figure, but Hasbro isn't here to make Oktober Guard fans happy. (Hi, Volga. I'm sorry Hasbro did that to your face.) The 2012 convention set Daina is actually really good, probably the best of the bunch, but she's a bit difficult/expensive to come by. So, naturally, like so many customizers before me, I spent a lot more and jumped through a bunch of inconvenient hoops to make my own! * I'm really not that old; I just don't follow or know shit about video games. ** On behalf of a generation of 10 year old boys circa 1986, thank you, Michael Golden. Recipe The Daina Variations Body, arms, legs, belt, scarf, leg gear: Planet Green Valley Head: Custom painted cast from an eBay seller Hat, mini-AK, pistol: Marauder Jacket: Star Wars Qira vest and BFS Zombie Survivor arms

LOL I didn't realize this was you at first on the MTF Facebook! This whole set is amazing with Daina probably being my favorite. Kudos to using the PGV body ...I have a ton of them and treasure each & everyone. Great build with a sharp sculpt for that head choice!

Sorry. It's been a while. I've been mostly focused on Star Wars customs lately. Anyhow, last time I posted, I shared three of my Oktober Guard customs. The other three original OGs were completed at that time, but two were very LBC while the third (Horror Show) was... best left in the background.
Since then I have completely remade my Horror Show from the ground up and, while still not perfect, I like him a lot more. Base figure is a Spin Master Penguin, from "The Batman" collection. The head is a typically excellent AVAC's Lab cast (https://www.avacslab.com/shop). The primary modification here was to the torso, where I used a POC Snow Job coat, chopped up and augmented with green stuff to cover the rather larger Penguin torso. Finally, a variety of secondaries (mostly Marauder) finished the look. One thing I'm really pleased with is the mass of the figure. Ever since I first handled a Kenner Gamorean Guard figure as a child, I've had a strange affection for big, chunky figures. I tried to capture the satisfying mass of Horror Show here by photographing him with Daina, but it still doesn't come through. This dude is chonky AF, but still feels of the same scale as his teammates. Very happy about this.
