Firefly was one of my all-time favorites since 29-ish years ago. I lived in a household with my little bro and a cousin, and we were all into GI JOE:ARAH toys (I was the only one old enough to care about and read the comics).
We had an agreement: we would choose one character from each assortment. No duplicates. Me being four years older than the next, I had a the intellectual advantage. Or so I thought. The youngest of us, five years younger than me, chose FIREFLY. I have since regretted that day. So, I had thought I?d make up for that nostalgic feeling of “loss” with the Classified version of Fireflty. So when it was revealed, I was…dissapointed. Umpire/bomb squad protection? WTF?! Light grey on someone who’s supposed to be a covert SABOTEUR?! WTF?!?! No. I refuse. So I did my own. I bought a Cobra Trooper (Officer?) vest on Etsy, did a full dark grey wash on the figure, and did a dry brush pass on on armor and holsters. I now have (a feeling of) the Firefly my younger bro beat me to in 1983. Love you, Bro. Last edited by Julius Downey; 06-12-2022 at 01:56 AM.. |

That's a great looking Firefly. And you chose the same rifle from Gridiron that I used on mine, good choice.

Yeah, Grid Iron makes great stuff. However, and this is me just being honest, but for the first time, I received an item from them (SAW rifle) that was noticeably warped. Now, for those of you out there who know about them as a company, their products are relatively pricey, so this is extra disappointing. That said, if anyone out there has this issue with any plastic-based accessory, the easy fix is to microwave some water, dip the warped item in the water for a few seconds (JUST A FEW!), and gently manipulate the piece back into the proper shape. Be careful to not leave it in too long because it will get too soft and could make it worse. Be also careful to feel for when the plastic hardens and to stop manipulating the piece because you can break it. Trust me. I know from sad experience. And that’s my toy PSA for the day. |

This Firefly looks MUCH better with your paint applications and tweaks.
I can relate. My older brother and I decided he would get the Joes and I would get the Cobras. I had the disadvantage because the good guys always had to win, right?! But that did mean I got Firefly. Always one of my favorites. Again, great job with this. |

Looks nice. I really hate how Firefly's vest is so restrictive. I like your solution.

Why would someone who’s there to cause damage expect to be there and wear protective armor for when the bomb goes off? Isn’t that like saying you’re mostly “great” at your job, but “just in case…”? Last edited by Julius Downey; 06-13-2022 at 12:19 AM.. |
