I’ve got my Wolf Squad scattered all over, so I’m creating a new thread for one stop shopping, which will include new photos and some additional creative notes. As you guys may know, Wolf Squad was a hit with me and then Hasbro immediately fucked it up.
To learn more about Wolf Squad, go here: https://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-j...d-yay-nay.html So, it seems we all agree that Wolf Squad is some version of a wetworks outfit for Joe. In determining a leader, I decided that the only fitting field commander was Conan. In universe, while experimenting with genetic mining and cloning to create Serpentor, Mindbender stumbled across the DNA for this guy. Seeing the opportunity to create a vanguard for Serpentor, he managed to create one copy before shit went off the rails. Because his DNA wasn’t spliced as was Serpentor’s, in time, Conan began to recall the memories of his predecessor. Seeing the lengths Cobra would go to, Conan pushed for the creation of a special unit after joining Joe team. Much more to come...

The original team. These guys were the first Wolf Squad guys and set the tone for all my customs. I like grayscale camo as opposed to the cheating out and just going with blacked out uniforms. The day glow Red pops really made it feel like a silly sub team- right up there with tiger stripes,
Can they Wolf Squad? I’ve read/heard a few different things on 50th Bazooka and Dusty. One was that the deco was supposed to look like they were being basked in moon light. Given that they were released along side HnR, many of us thought they were intended to be Wolf Squad, and I believe someone at hasbro let slip that they were, but the factory fucked to the deco and they decided not to correct it. Well, I corrected it. Regardless of whether any of that is true, Hasbro left no doubt that they had forgotten what Wolf Squad was with the release of the 50th Ann “ Special Forces” pack. These guys featured the Wolf Squad insignia, but otherwise had nothing in common with the original 3. I've even heard that upon this release, someone within the design team was surprised to learn that Wolf Squad members had already been released and seemed to not recall the original deco. I'd love for someone with the inside knowledge to chime in on this one, because "what could have been" still haunts me. Once again, a correction was in order. I first decided I needed a ninja on Wolf Squad. Snakes Eyes was the obvious choice, and I may still decided to add him, but I thought that was too tired so I picked T'Jbang. Around this same time I was considering remaking Ninja Force in a more accurate fashion, but truth be told, the Ninja Force figures are among the Club's best efforts in my opinions. In th end, the tweek I would have made would have been so minor, I ultimately decided instead to induct the entire Ninja Force originals into Wolf Squad: After that, I went into full expansion mode- mostly picking characters that I liked, regardless of whether they necessarily fit the bill, but I think in the end, all the selections works: Grunt: Grunt is my favorite of the OG13, and I really liked the build of the 50th Duke, just didn't think it worked for Duke, so I turned it into Wolf Squad Grunt: Beachhead: Another of my favorites, especially after I got on a "Army Rangers are as badass as they come" tip when I was a kid. Didn't love Beachhead's interpretation in the movie, but the comics version was always a stone cold badass. Here, I just replicated the 50th version to the letter: Low-Light: So, this guy is inspired moreso by my ARAH custom than by any of Hasbro's offerings, but I wanted him to have a distinct look from traditional interpretations, as he wasn't a sniper on this team. Low-Light to me was always less a pure sniper and moreso Leon the Professional, so on Wolf Squad, he's infiltration and elimination in complete stealth, without firearms or weapons if necessary. Muskrat: He might be the only guy who might not make total sense, but if Wolf Squad wanted to run an assault on the Noks evergrade hideout, they'd need his expertise. And I just loved the figure as a kid. Took inspiration from that, but went with a vest instead of tack jacket for light and stealthy travel: Mercer: Mercer is fucking awesome. Everyone knows it. No further explanation is needed. I hope to add Taurus and Bull to the squad if I ever manage to accrue the parts I would need. This is just a "repaint" of my own Mercer custom. Red Dog: Taurus: Renegades: Chuckles: Don't know that a wetworks team would be too deep in the undercover ops, but sending a guy in for recon in that capacity seems like something one might do. Again, another "repaint" of my own custom of the character: Cover Girl: They've got Ace for the skies, they need someone for terrain. And again, another fave character. This design is completely independent of any other version I've done of her- while I'm normally OCD about wanting builds to mirror other versions, with Cover Girl, with a model background, it makes sense that she would always be changing up her look: And I also added some original characters, as well: Stella Graves, codename: Daylight: Daughter of Grunt and Lola Graves, she's an extraction specialist for the team. More info on my foray into the Graves family here: https://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-j...y-axonrey.html Calvin McCracken, codename: Sideways A former green beret you had served with Vincent Falcone, when the team needed recruits willing to take the risks and pay the price for what was required, Falcon called up his old buddy. There's no one you'd rather have watching your 6 when shit goes sideways. Shockwave: Team Shots (so far):

Ax, kudos on creating such an awesome Wolf Squad, something we never received from Hasbro so its really a treat to see an expanded version of said Squad here. Ninja Force originals added is such a bonus as well.
Once again your paint apps are superb and choice of parts is spot on! Great stuff!! |
