Having nearly finished my Action Force customs I started looking at the unproduced figures from the line, and probably the most famous of these figures the Special Weapons Force:
I was discussing these figures with Leee777 and we decided on a project to see what we could come up with in the way of SWF figures using MTF parts. It is not a competition on who could make the best figures just an experiment to see what we would each make expanding on the little information known about them. We have set up a new thread to be specifically for the Special Weapons Force where people can discuss their knowledge/thoughts on the team, and also share their own customs of the SWF if they want (they do not need to be MTF ones). For background the 5 proposed members were Bombardier (probably the best known), Boffin, Lightning, Sniper and Fixer. Below are some photos of what the proposed figures were going to look like. |

I have already made a Boffin figure which some will have seen in my usual thread, so I did not need to make another.
For the project I decided that Boffin was the leader, and was a kind of Q from James Bond type character. He is a genius and designs most of the new Action Force equipment but doesn't come from a military background. Due to this I decided he needed some protection when SWF are called into action so he has developed his own personal battle tank. |

I have also previously made a Bombardier figure in the colour scheme that most people are familiar with (the one the Club made).
For this project I had already decided I was going to base the other characters off the picture with them in the light blue and white colour scheme so I decided to remake Bombardier in these colours also. In my imagination, unlike Boffin, the rest of the SWF do come from a military background and from different branches of the Armed Forces. Bombardier comes from the Army and likes to make things go boom! For his "special weapon" he has a remote control high energy plasma cannon. Taking inspiration from the Club's filecard he is also an expert with drone technology and uses one to identify targets for his cannon and provides information to a Heads Up Display in his visor. |

Sniper is an ex Special Forces operative, and for a member of a team like the SWF I didn't want him to just be a sniper (which his name does imply!) so I decided instead he would be a walking arsenal.
He has two backpack mounted high calibre rifles which are controlled by the targeting scope on his helmet. He also has a wrist mounted mini gatling gun. |

Lightning comes from the Air Force and his "Special Weapon" allows him to attack from the sky. I decided his name also allowed for him to be an expert with energy weapons.
The rocket launchers on his legs I was planning to be thrusters that allow him to direct his flight, but if others can't see past them being the rocket launchers MTF designed them to be I am happy that he uses them to take out enemy aircraft whilst in flight. |

Fixer was the name that gave me the most difficulty. I decided she would be a Royal Navy engineer and an expert in building and repairing mechanical items.
Her "Special Weapon" is an exo suit that allows her to lift vehicles so she can work on them in the field. I thought I had a white bag in my spares that would hold her tools (but I didn't) so for now they are on the floor. As I am also always looking to add diversity to the team (as unfortunately there was not much in the original figures), Fixer has changed both sex and race. |

Hi, yeah we thought it would be cool to do a collaboration of Action Force Special Weapons Force here at HISS together. Again, if you have any you made in the past or wanna try some, please join in. This is not a competition or anything, just a bit of fun about a Special Weapons Unit that doesn’t get much love online and every GI Joe fan should know about ‘em! ;)
SWF = dsc photo This ones just joined SWF, call her Tech-Savy! :P Boffin does what a Boffin does, (top man in the SWF) ;) I reckon this guy has that vibe, one day he’s gonna turn to the dark side, Red Shadows or Cobra? These two aqua blue guys, are a late edition, I originally planned to do the light grey guys with helmets, but I tried being a clever bollox and used Rit Dyemore on some white figures and well, they turned out brown lol, not good, but I think these blue guys scrubbed up well? Wanted to use a bit of old skool Palitoy in there too. They was gonna have them yellow an red strips but looked cooler without them, though might change my mind lol. This is a female blue Bombardier, she’s one mean lean fighting machine! Was going to go with the yellow on her vest etc, but looked much better white to go with all that aqua blue! Oops, forgot to include original Bombardier, well this guy has actually been made by the GI Joe Club., an FSS figure, this is my take on him = Just for fun, a SWF Muton ;) Group shot. Wish I had a better background haha. Last edited by LEEE777; 05-17-2021 at 09:44 AM.. |
