I'll contribute, just tell me what you want done. I think I'd best be suited for any writing tasks since I'm sure people will want to see more popular customizers do the videos, lol.

I don't think too many people would pay for something like this, simply because it's all over the net, free of charge already. Sure it takes some digging to find everything you're looking for, and sure it's spread out over 129 different websites...
and no offense to you, your skills, or what you're trying to accomplish... but it's all been done before. |

Is this going to be along the lines of the 1/6th Spec Ops one? Think they have a few books out now. It`s huge difference tho between customizing 1/6th to 1/18th.
Plus If this takes off, your gonna have to think of the International community too. Stating this & that from Walmart etc won`t be of use to International people if they don`t have the stores. So research into modelling materials from around the globe could be useful here to help ALL. Plus maybe list stockists of varying brands of 1/18th figures, materials etc would be an idea too. |

Even if I never did another custom, I think this would be a cool book to own.

Well I'm not necessarily trying to sell the information either. That is why I'm taking the poll. I just want to see how much interest there is total both who would be willing to pay and who would just want it all together in one spot for free.
Really I just want to see how BIG the hobby truly is or isn't It's mainly for research so I know if I want to complete a project like this or not. BTW.. Love your customs. an i told ya he makes some bad ass customs.. |

I tell you what, you guys head over to my site that is already up, Homemade Joes the Authority on Custom Action Figures. let me know if you think it would work as is. obviously this wont be ONLY for joes though. We should cover all sizes of the figures.. but if not then maybe I should consider a website name that is more encompassing. If you guys become members on the site I can then allow you permission to post information and such, I can add a video player on there or we can just use you-tube. If this takes off what I will do is probably look into charging a small fee for subscribers, or once we get enough traffic put some adds on the site.. then if the site really starts making a profit I will institute a way for contributing customziers to get a portion of the proceeds, kind of like Squidoo or something down the line. First we have to see what kind of interest we can garner.

I wouldn't buy one. But I would love for one to be available at the local library.
Even though I don't think that I would buy a book like that there should be a huge demand. Dozens of books exist about model trains. I would think that the market place would have room for other modeling/customizing books too. |

Publish a Book - Lulu.com Basically, to print up 50 copies of a softcover, slightly smaller sized book in b/w at 84 pages (the minimum) would cost around $200. Full color around $1000. Not really all that bad. There are plenty, plenty of other options to use as far as print styles and book styles and whatnot, but that's about the cheapest I've found.

Wouldn't a custom action figure book be complicated to pull off, not because of the vast array of 'action' figures out there (Star Wars, GI Joe, Marvel, Wrestling, ect) but that any customizing book done today might be outdated a year from now with how designs change over time?
Granted, you would need to adapt with the figure changes, but that makes owning a book rather silly, no? Tom

Please stop talking. The amount of insider information that you have is exactly zero.
Know how I know this? Because you posted a declassified flyer which was meant for fun as a NEWS ITEM. No one would ever tell you anything because the VERY FIRST THING you would do is post it here. Probably incorrectly. |
