gCobra_25th_Shelf-2HighCommand_2017-1122a by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr
Wanted to get this one up and out before the holiday. So these are the figures as set up on my actual Cobra display shelf (set 1 of 7), displayed high and central on the figure stand pictured. When the modern figures were coming out ten years ago, other than the GI Joe O13, this is the group of figures I was most excited about getting updated. Back when I was young, I had decided that the non-troop-builder Cobra figures were the only figures (and vehicles) I was going to get after 1983, due to budget and space. It's kinda neat that there ended up being 13 of these guys, ignoring the Dreadnoks and Serpentor, so these became my "C13" for lack of a better term. Many of these you all have already seen with my previous Cobra by year photos, although many of the figures from previous photo were taken from this set. Previously not shown are Tomax, Xamot, Mindbender, Bludd, and Destro. Tomax and Xamot are the same as the Hasbro releases, with repainted flesh to fix the neck painting. Destro is the 50th release with some touchup painting and reduced...proudness. Bludd gets new legs from the 25th Firefly (love those legs, but they are always getting swapped out on my figures), Nighthawk-inspired right arm elbow articulation, and touchup painting. Mindbender is an all-new kitbash, with ROC StormShadow torso, Tomax arms, ROC Duke hands, Ripper Legs, and Club Mindbender head. I love what Rangeviper88 did with his Mindbender and his legs, and may try to do that, if the legs fit this torso and I find better quality purple paint than FolkArt. An updated Zartan, based on the 50th release was planned with a different torso (I hate that 25th Gungho torso and skinny neck), but he came up short (literally and figuratively). Hooded Commander was originally shown here: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...angfang-4.html, post 39, and was to be included with my Cobra 1984--but I booted him from that group. This pic group is his original and permanent home anyway. I like the darker blue with this group, and the lighter blue with the troops. Has anybody ever done a poll regarding the most popular version of Cobra Commander? I don't know if I've got a fav btwn the 1st two... Thanks for the feedback! |
