I finally got an '87 MCC back in November. I never had a lot of bases / headquarters as a kid, so this one stuck out to me as one I had always wanted but never gotten while growing up
When I was restoring this, I decided I was not a fan of the two separate bunks / trauma beds located right next to the CIC, and decided to remove one of them. To help turn it into more of a briefing room, I decided to make a "tactical holographic table" with my 3D printers. Below is how it turned out. There's plenty of room in the table so I could have added a light source underneath if I wanted to, but I'm not much on LEDs and wiring, plus I rarely use light up gimmicks on toys. |

That's just awesome. So jealous of the resin printers.
I think LED lighting would be worth it in this case to really make the holographic map pop. Let me know if you decide to wire it up and need any guidance. You can power a couple LEDs with a small stack of button batteries and control on/off with a switch pretty cheaply.

Damn, amazing!!!!
So happy to see one of these made, haven't gotten translucent resin yet but have been wanting to try one for awhile. Came out great! I know you said you're not much into LEDs, but this would be over the top if you did add one or two underneath.
