I finally bought a broken Gi Joe Mauler. Half the wheels were broken off and the battery box was corroded but the rest of it seemed to be in nice shape. And I could afford it. I ended up fabricating a bunch of new parts for the bogeys, mudflaps, antennae and grenade launchers. I also replaced the battery contacts with those from a donor toy and got the power functions working.
If you want to see the process in more detail I made a video showing what I did and why. Some of you more experienced Joe modders might see a few rookie mistakes but all in all I'm just glad to have a working Mauler in my collection. here's a link to the video https://youtu.be/n4SvBPQ3YTc And seeing Joecollection18s amazing RC conversion I'm thinking I'll need to do one of those at some point. Really inspiring.

It looks great! You could sell replacement parts to recoup some of your cost.

Thank you guys! I do plan to get together some pieces to se11 on my etsy store at some point. I just need to find some time and take a break from new projects. Thanks again for taking a look.

Great idea! Way to save a piece of 80's history!

Great job, your Mauler looks exceptional! I really enjoyed the video and your explanation on how you reconstructed the parts. The talents you and others here have with 3d printing for repro parts is amazing. Looking forward to your next project!
