Salvo was my last "favorite" Joe. I gave up toys for sports and girls shortly after. He's been done a thousand times in the last 5 years, but I did bring a few new things to the table.
Yes, it's Ultimate Roadblock, but I used Roadblock's head from the Ret. 4 pack (which might have been done before as well). Their heads are different sculpts. Here is a side by side with my "Gunny" Gung-Ho, looking like they could be brothers. No I didn't accidentally paint his slogan on his t-shirt wrong. I almost never paint due to my fear of paint chipping and my general lack of skill in that department. I used a decal, but I cut it to flip the script. Hear me out... I'm a philosophy teacher and as such I help high schoolers see the importance in the meaning of what they think, say, and do. I guess I can't turn that off when I leave school. Which brings me to the the ideology of "The Right of Might." It can be described several ways, but it all boils down to "the strong get to do what they want". This is historically accurate and obvious, but this mindset justifies the worst aspects of humanity. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging this reality, but in my mind, it shouldn't be the catch phrase for the good guys. Swapping Might and Right changes the meaning to something more like "There is Strength in Fighting for the Right Reasons" or "The Good of a Righteous Cause." One of the highest callings is to fight for and protect those who can't protect themselves. Other than the head the figure is entirely Ult. RB. All of the gear is JoyToy. I started with the idea to use this figure as a base It was on the small side of 1:18 so I modded and incorporated his armor on to this combo But it just wasn't working for me. I wasn't able to get an Ultimate RB when they came out, but I was able to get a complete one here in China at a decent price recently. A short time later we have Salvo. Questions and comments welcome... even constructive criticism.

Awesome job piecing this one together. I understood exactly what you meant by swapping RIGHT and MIGHT around and fits perfectly. What Joy Toy figure has the helmet and pads? I would love to incorporate these on my Salvo custom.

As far as I know Andre was one of the first three JoyToy figures in this scale (everything previous to this was 1/25 I believe) Unfortunately it's hard to find any of these three today.

You rock for calling it out and switching those words - the shirt always bothered me. Hasbro take note. You geared him up perfectly.

Thanks, I felt stuck with this one for so long, and it turned out better than my expectations, so I feel an odd sense of relief mixed with the usual excitement when finishing a figure. I included my old Salvo that I'm reworking into Big Ben (maybe with a different head or a beret or something). He just didn't fit as Salvo in my mind. I think he'll work out much better as Big Ben

I confess, I paused for second before posting it with the wording changed, thinking maybe, just maybe, it'll bother someone here. But at the end of the day, we're just sharing our enjoyment of a hobby. If it gets someone truly bent out of shape, screw 'em.
