This is probably the first time I see such an awesome MOTU figure execution on a 4" scale and it's really impressive. I agree with ARBCO, growing up with these action figure characters, I'd have been a lot more inclined to collect the whole line had it been available in 4"...heck I'd even start collecting now!

Wow, Evil Lynn and Teela are stunning! Great sculpt work and those faces are incredible. So much personality in the paint job, love how those two came out. You are really killing it with these MOTU additions. I would have said most couldn’t be done in the smaller scale but you just keeping nailing character after character. Such an amazing thread and collection of figures you have going here.

From MOTU? Stinkor, Fisto and Tri-Klops will be the last of the MOTU for a while.

Going back further to see more stuff I missed, those MASK Past & Present pics.......haha, now I’m jealous! Just all quality right there, your customs and the vintage lineup, love seeing them all lined up together. Just shows off how cool that toyline was and how incredible of a job you did on your customs.
I’m sure it’s in here or in your MASK specific thread, but do you have a favorite figure and vehicle? One of my grail items that I always wanted as an adult was a mint condition RHINO because it was my favorite MASK vehicle growing up, happy to say I was able to find one at a toy show before everything shut down for a nice price from one of my regular sellers that I supported. Then my favorite figure is the Matt Trakker that came with Volcano.

When I was a kid in the 80s my dad used to take me to the city he grew up so we could get haircuts from the same guy who cut his hair when he was a boy.
It was like stepping into a 50s barbershop every time - I loved it. The barber, Tom Payette, had grown up loving comic books and didn’t stop collecting until some time in the 70s. That was my favorite part - reading decades of classic comic books while I waited. Anyway, I remember some of the 70s comic books advertising Mego 8" dolls. I was astonished to find Batman, The Thing, Planet of the Apes and Conan all available in the same scale and style! I asked my dad why that didn’t do that anymore and he explained a bit of licensing. I asked if I tried to do the mail away offers now would they honor it. Of course he explained I was about a decade too late. All that to say, one of the many reasons I love this project is that it is the fulfillment of that childhood dream. I know you’ve said many times you always wanted your favorites all together in 4’ scale - I felt the same way. Last edited by Dod Ear; 01-26-2021 at 07:33 PM.. |

Tri-Klops will be mostly a sculpt job, so I'm trying to figure out how to go about sculpting the head and making it where it will rotate so each eye can come around. I think I've figured it out, so I'm hoping to start on him and the other two soon. All three are going to require lots of sculpting and as much as I love customizing the scope of sculpting everything makes me put off my projects at times.

Then my favorite figure is the Matt Trakker that came with Volcano. As far as a favorite vehicle and figure from M.A.S.K. that's tough. I "collected" so many action figures as a kid I'm not even sure where M.A.S.K. ranked. GI Joe, Thundercats and Centurions were probably my favorites. I had all of the Centurions suits and all of the Thundercats and bad guys. I played with Super Powers, Secret Wars, Warlord, Wrestling figures, Mighty Crusaders, Blackstar, Bravestarr, COPS, Bionic 6, Visionaries...I mean I had all of that stuff. Okay, sorry bit of a nostalgia trip for a second. Okay, so I had Thunderhawk with Trakker as a kid and he was my favorite, but it would have been close with Brad and Condor. I always wanted Rhino, but never had one....(but I do now ). My best M.A.S.K. story was looking in the old Sears catalog for Christmas seeing Switchblade and begging for that for Christmas and sure enough Christmas came and.........Piranha. I got Piranha probably the lamest of all of the VENOM team lol. I did have Jackhammer so that was cool. So, as a kid Thunderhawk and Matt would have been my favorites. Now, owning Rhino it is my favorite and I really like the Bruce Soto figure. Sorry for the long drawn out response. I love talking action figures and especially 80s stuff and how often does that happen in real life? Quote:

I remember those old ads in the comics and always wanted to see if they would honor them lol. Honestly, not that I think my customs are the greatest, but it is just so much fun to look at all of them together in the same scale. NOTHING beats the vintage figures. I still enjoy getting my old Thundercats and MASK etc out and just messing with them. The project is seriously a labor of love and it means more than I can express to hear stories like the one you told and to know others are enjoying seeing all of these together in one scale. The project really started out really as just the 4 main Thundercats and Flash Gordon and Phantom from Defenders of the Earth. We got Matt Trakker in the 25th Joe line and then Leoric in the box set. I just thought I would make some of my most beloved characters from my favorite lines. Bionic 1 and Karate 1 from Bionic 6, Bulletproof and Longarm from COPS, Brad Turner from MASK, Whitterquick from Visionaries, Bravestarr, He-Man, and then it just exploded into what it has become.
