Never cared for Nash?s design, mainly because he was another who I was more familiar with the plain toy look and not the much better animated look.....like it a lot more seeing your custom! Something that happened to me a lot with the lesser Joes from back in the day, be a figure I never cared about, then I?d do a custom and all of a sudden, hey, I like Steamroller now!
Nailed it with his outfit, great part selection, then I really love the head you have for him. It?s perfect! The hair, the glasses, that smirk, that?s just a fantastic head. Can?t imagine him being done with anything better. Paint job is great as always, really like the sculpting of his chest plate and the paint choice really makes it stand out. Then that was a mask that I had NO idea how you?d do, it had such a weird look on the cartoon with the elongated design but you totally pulled it off! Looks so awesome as a total package, another that I?d be going back and forth with on her to display because I love the unmasked look......but I LOVE that shot of all the Venom agents together all masked up as well! If you?d like, I still have my childhood Outlaw so I won?t mind you just boxing up all of those awesome Venom figures and sending them my way for a photoshoot in front of it! Haha. How Hasbro didn?t do two MASK box sets the way they did the original 25th Joe ones, I?ll never be able to figure out. The chest plate is one of my favorite things I've ever sculpted as it turned out exactly the way I had imagined it which is very rare. His mask is probably my biggest sculpting achievement so far. I think it came out on the better than I thought side, but again I picked up some tricks while making it and I'm pretty confident I could do better if I tried again. Yeah, Hasbro left some money on the table with that one as the Matt Trakker figure had people really excited about the possibilities, but then nothing came of it. Only Julio, Vanessa, Gloria, Cliff and Ali use parts besides Joes and all of them could have been made with Joe parts I'm sure.

Thanks buddy. Glad to have most of them finished. I do plan to knock out all of the agents eventually. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Hot dang I have been jonesing for some Flint rocks made Sky Commanders! I still think this show would make an awesome movie! Great job on Plague! Funny coincidence, I found my General Mike Summit (red rollerball single release version) yesterday when going through some of my old toy collections! He was still mint! ;-)

Any suggestions on which members should come next? Thanks, I always appreciate the kind words buddy. Thanks man. I think I could have done a better job on some of the sculpt work on Plague, but he turned out okay.

You crushed it on Plague?s face! Looks straight out of the cartoon! Those paint apps really give it a different look from the straight out of the baggie Marauder head.
Then always impressed with how well you hide parts of the MTF build with a little sculpt. Really changes the look of Plague?s arms and chest. Paint job is perfect for him, love the green you have there. Still can?t believe you missed this awesome toyline growing up but you will more than make up for it when you show off more awesome customs to us fans of the line! He looks fantastic with Mike Summit to it?s gonna be awesome to see some more characters! I have to check out the cartoon again, the characters were all sort of nameless to me because I only really had the toys and they didn?t resemble the cartoon characters all that much. Red and RJ are must haves though, haha, those two always made me laugh whenever they were together. Quote:
Honestly, I had no idea who Nash was until I started this project and I made a few MASK customs and someone asked if I was going to make him. He was so late in season one that I didn't recall him from the cartoon and didn't have him as a kid and in fact had never come across the figure before.
Only Julio, Vanessa, Gloria, Cliff and Ali use parts besides Joes and all of them could have been made with Joe parts I'm sure. Like I said, always Impressed with how much you sculpt and how well it?s all done because nearly every figure you tackle now requires it. When I pick it back up for some customs, definitely gonna be picking your brain again. They definitely did because I think most Joe fans would have scooped up MASK in the same size to add to their modern joe universe. I remember the big calling for KREO to do MASK just so it would finally be a line that we had Joe and MASK vehicles in the same size.

You bet I do! I love Sky Commanders! RJ, Pete Crane, Raider Rath, Erica Slade, & Red McCullough! *Sky Commanders was an unusual line as the cartoon didn't quite have the same characters as the toy line... . Last edited by Steel Brigade; 04-06-2022 at 03:47 PM.. |
