First, my Resolute SE... Yeah, I know, just what we need here, right? Yet another snake eyes custom! ;) Since the animation Resolute SE seems to have darker near black webgear than that on the City Strike figure, I swapped the black webgear and upper/lower legs from Rescue Mission SE. Also added some silver and black paintwash details.
Resolute SE and new swapped Rescue Mission SE side-by-side... My 25th SE (2009 5-pack) which I also darkened up by painting the arm and thigh straps black and adding paintwash detail to the visor and webgear... Well then I wondered what it would look like if I swapped the 25th and Rescue Mission SE heads... I kinda like it, but what do you guys think? Which combo looks better? Should I leave the heads swapped (pic below), or should I change it back to the original heads (previous pic above) ??? Last edited by mynamehere; 03-02-2010 at 07:39 PM.. |

It's funny that you've posted this because I was doing the same thing with my City Strike Snake Eyes and my Rescue Mission Snake Eyes just a few weeks ago.
I originally bought 2 City Strike Snake Eyes because I wanted to use the webgear for Short Fuse. I knew I would end up having to paint it black though. The only problem was that my Short Fuse figure was still sealed inside of the UBP box, and that was in storage. I was too lazy to go and dig it out over the holidays though. Then all of a sudden that Rescue Mission pack came out with Snake Eyes and his black webgear. I decided to pick up 2 of the sets when they went on clearence. When I opened the first one I was upset that Snake Eyes was a bit damaged. His metal T-hook bar thingy that holds his legs to his lower torso was very loose iniside of the lower torso. He couldn't stand on his own. The only way to fix him would be to gut him open and glue that thing into place. In any case I went back to the store and bought a third set. Now I have some extra parts for customs. That's when I started messing around with swaping parts as you have. I must say that you have made some pretty cool combinations there. By the way I really like the way the wash came out on some of the parts you applied it to. It really makes the detail stand out and it gives it that extra pop.

If procrastination were a super power I'd have my own comic book. Thanks for sharing these pics.. I haven't looked at mine in a while and forgot how cool they were.

I mix and match Snake-Eyes, too.
My current default snake eyes is a Paris Pursuit Snake-Eyes head on a reactive Impact Armor Duke body. The head from that Duke looks cool on the Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes body, as well. With the trench coat and the body with the Duke head, he looks kinda like a bounty hunter-ish type of guy. Snake-Eyes just looks bad-ass with that reactive Impact Armor body. I didn't paint or change anything on either body. I just swapped heads like a Polly Pocket toy. Last edited by MLos1; 02-22-2010 at 03:14 AM.. Reason: Spelling. |

I mentioned Polly Pocket because I play with my GF's sister's kid and her Polly Pocket toys because that's what she likes.
When I was swapping heads on the JOES it reminded me of playing with my GF's sister's daughter and her girl toys. Swapping out the JOE parts is essentially the same thing. Polly Pocket just came to mind because I was recently playing with the Polly pocket stuff. Is it somehow bad to use the Polly Pocket toys as a descriptive method to describe the JOES when I'm not painting anything or sculpting anything onto the bodies to make them different? No. I'm secure enough to admit that when my GF's sister's daughter is around I play with her and we use the Polly Pocket stuff. It's funny how you just pick up on how I mention Polly Pocket and instantly want to drop using that toy as a descriptive way to explain the JOES head swap. Anyway...I like the Polly Pocket toys. They're fun. |
