You made a figure I'm familiar with, but then again Tiger Force Tripwire was like 88 I think so just under the wire and the last real year I collected GI Joe as I only got a few from 89 I believe.
Great homage to the original too. I honestly don't even know who all they have made in the modern line in Tiger Force colors. Weren't some Club and Con exclusives maybe?

Up next is another that has been sitting on the In Progress shelf for far too long. Built a long time ago alongside my Listen & Fun Tripwire, the Tiger Force variant just never got completed for one reason or another.....but now we finally have a more accurate version of him to add to my Tiger Force shelf!
So the same build I previously used for Tripwire with some subtle tweaks to make them a little different but also because I thought they improved it a bit. So a brown MTF figure as the base, darker brown paint job for his uniform & pouches, a gunmetal gray mix to completely cover his boots & leg armor, then some green accents for the gloves and belt to finish the body. Then for the vest i used my spice paint, did some tiger stripes and accents in black and finished it off by hitting the buckles with the chrome marker. Went with the helmet build my brother thought of for him again, just a Marauder head with sunglasses, the pilot helmet, flight shades and a mic. Really like that look for him. Absolutely love seeing this custom finally finished, it was a little plain before but I think the extra paint apps really pushed him to another level. Tiger Force Tripwire With my other Tripwires (didn?t pull the Hasbro gray tiger striped one from the Tiger Sting): And my brown & yellow TF subgroup and the other TF customs I?ve made so far: Doing what he does: Last edited by zbs; 03-16-2022 at 10:06 AM.. |

That T'Jbang is banging. He's my favorite member of Ninja Force so I'm glad to see you continue this team with him as the next member.
I might suggest using the bio blue legs with the orange or even clear upper (since you mentioned it) to add another layer of variation among the team. But I also appreciate the monotone bodies as that's consistent with the ARAH spirit. ......see, this is why you are the resident Ninja master and go-to for all things Ninja! Haha, I messed with these builds for so long now and it NEVER occurred to me to mix body part colors! Total too deep in the forest to see the trees moment for me. That actually works perfectly for continuing to add to the group because I always used T?Jbang & Dojo together as a team so with their similar color scheme, they?d be a cool one to go off the path a bit for and swap body parts. Thanks for the suggestion! Very much appreciated, gives me something to mess around with now when I get more clear bodies. Quote:
Thanks! Really fun version to have, especially since I have that Hasbro one with the tiger stripes and it always drove me crazy that they didn?t just do him in the classic TF Tripwire colors! Quote:

Really fun one to make since I always loved the build I had for the v2. Yeah, Hasbro did a number of official and slightly off unofficial TF, then the Club did a number of them as well for a convention, in the Subscription Service and in those Final 12 or however many they did right before closing up shop. If my count is right, between Hasbro, the Club & the three I made, I have 29 modern TF members....so I have: - 4 brown camo based. - 7 orange camo based. Two are customs. - 5 green camo based - 12 yellow camo based. One is a custom. - one gray camo Tripwire. I have to take a new picture of them all but this was the last shot I did of the team right before adding several customs and the final four released by the Club: Thanks! Fun group to set up together because I always love using that Radar station for pics. Plus it?s fun to use some of those MARS & ROC guys who don?t always make it off the shelf for pics.

That picture with Shipwreck & the landmine LOL!!!!!!!!!! Love it! The Dio shots always bring the fun!
This is great homage to TF Tripwire, had this version & the original growing up, & I think they saw about equal play. The thing I like so much about your build is that he looks more bulked up & protected, as compared to the streamlined look of the original. Great paintwork & color choice, he really pops! I have only done 1 version of "Trip" myself, but I am always amazed with HOW many figures we both do, that our character selection does not crossover more often! lol! Great work as always bro! Lmao! Manually deactivating landmines with a machete was one of Shipwreck?s specialities, right? That was actually so difficult to take! One hand holding Shipwreck, one holding the camera and then trying to frame the shot while the mine keeps trying to slide off the machete!
Thanks! He was one that never made it to me in any form growing up so I was thrilled when 25th gave us multiple versions. Thought this one really started to pop when I added the paint and my yellow actually came out pretty close to the TF yellow so that was a nice bonus! Now I just need to make the Bomb Squad purple one and I?m set! Haha, I think Vietnam will be when we have a lot of crossover because there are so many guys that you?ve made that I keep pushing back because I either don?t have enough cloth legs or rolled sleeves, or I?ve just decided, this one is Vietnam so I keep skipping them. I know there are quite a few Funskool guys & 2000?s repaints that you tackled that are on my list.

Love the Tiger Force Tripwire. Plus, as always, all of the extra action pics are cool to see.

It looks like I've missed some awesome drops here. Man the Shadow Ninja T'Jbang looks superb!! Such a great addition to your Shadow Ninja transformation group. Your choice of base color being orange and not clear really sets this one apart. I'm somewhat biased though as this yellow/blue combo is probably my favorite of all vivid/neon colors. Then going with the Athenian sheen guards vs Spartan one, being bulkier offers added proportionality making it pop some more as well. You've nailed it here with T'Jbang! Love every single bit of it.
The group shot is sweet, almost forgot to mention haha. That's a constant characteristic in all your posts so I'm always ready to scroll down and check out pics of current and past customs together. Group shots rock!! Really digging the paint choices on Tiger Force variant of Tripwire. This a beautiful figure of an underestimated joe character. You've done true justice to his persona, he looks imposing in a marauders build and very effective in later pictures when is carrying out the mission with his Tiger Force boys! Keep the momentum and keep them coming man! |

Super fun action scenes to put together! Always love it when I can pull some vehicles or lesser used figures for pics. Need to finish Tiger Force so I can do a bunch of updated team pictures. Quote:

Keep the momentum and keep them coming man! Lmao! The group shots are my favorites, along with Past & Presents, cannot wait to finish all of the Ninja Force characters and then whoever else I am doing with the Shadow Ninjas so I can do one epically large 90?s ninja shot! The Marauder parts definitely worked out perfectly for him! I?m sure there are some MTF builds of the v1, have to circle back and check some out, but I knew they?d work perfectly for what I wanted to do for Tiger Force once I started adding the paint. Haha, sort of cooled momentum as real world stuff hit but hoping next month I can get a little steam going and finish up some more of these MTF bodies! Thanks! You definitely should! Always loved this version of him, that original Hasbro o ring sculpt was such a classic so it was awesome to see a few repaints of it over the years. Can?t wait to finish off my modern group by doing that purple Funskool Bomb Squad variant at some point.

It?s been a while since I?ve gotten to take a custom from the idea phase to finished product but seeing so much great stuff from everyone on here definitely gave me the itch to add something new to my thread so I just needed the project......finish something already built or do something from scratch. Then I saw Flint Rocks epic Tank custom from Captain Power:
https://www.hisstank.com/forum/5529091-post1315.html Absolutely was floored by this one and it made me take another look at the Star Brigade builds I?ve had sitting here for years but I?ve always considered unfinished. With Flint?s idea of painting the exo parts to completely match the figure underneath to give it a thicker body, I just needed to try this on of my unfinished builds. So my test subject was a figure that I absolutely loved as a kid. I was so-so on the Ninja Force figures who were not made with the standard Joe articulation.....but I LOVED the larger space suit Star Brigade guys who were built in that same style of limited movement. Right at the top of the list was Destro, I thought this redesign and build just absolutely screamed our favorite chromed headed arms dealer and he got a ton of action in my Joe battles as a kid. So since he had the least amount of complexity.....we were off! So easy start, a Marauder red armored figure, extra ROC Destro head that I picked up and then some exo suit parts & accessories from Marauder. First I painted the base figure. Fire red for the chest, arms & upper thighs. Silver for the boots, knees and parts of one arm. Black for the other arm. Painted the armored vest using those same colors to mimic the look of the original figure?s chest. Then went over all the red with a metallic red to give it a unique space look. Once the figure itself looked good, then I did the same method for the exo suit parts. Finished off the look with a dome helmet from the Space Force line and Star Brigade Destro was complete! Absolutely love the finished product and is so much more fun than the original no paint build that I had. Star Brigade Destro With my childhood SB Destro who needs a nice scrubbing after all of those childhood wars: Beside my first attempt at a Star Brigade thicker build, Star Brigade Mortal, who will be getting a full paint job now as well: With my other Star Brigade Cobras: And finally, back in the action causing terror like he did in my childhood battles:
