Triple T sarge looks great. I'm not a particular fan of that build but it is super effective and does look like Sarge. Thats nothing against your custom at all as you nailed the look. Its that body is just way too tall. All the movie roadblocks were in my opinion makes him hard to fit in with the 25th. I still love that Warthog Sarge and he is a bit shorter and thicker which is how I picture Sarge. I think my custom is too thin around the waist where I used the Copperhead body but I like the height.
I didnt recall you making the Marauder Sarge man those colors are perfect. Love seeing all the versions there together.

That is one mean looking Triple T Sarge!! I love this figure and yeah the vintage version of it was probably one of the first joes I played with growing up.
Not justifying the price tag for acquiring the SDCC version, I made one using almost identical parts as yours. I just went with a plain military green for the pants versus camo. One day will have to add more version as you did so that I can finally have a completed roster of the original ARAH Sarge releases. So awesome to see all versions displayed together! Yeah, SDCC, usually seems like splurge for how many you want right away because they just keep going up. I have them both carded and tights open so I’m satisfied, especially now that I have decent custom versions of them all. Do you have a pic of your Sarge? Definitely will have to show it off. Haha, to be fair, mine wouldn’t have camo if Hasbro didn’t paint it for me. And thanks! Definitely cool to have the full batch of Sarge’s so hope you end up having the lot of them down the road. That's a super effective build both in height & girth! And of course the dio aspect fighting the BATS makes it all next level awesome! My brothers & I had the mail away Sarge & the Marauders version growing up. Great stuff buddy! I remember The Sarge showed up at my local "Ames" when I was in high school for an appearance!
Haha, everyone had Sarge growing up except me! Gonna have to make a Battle Corps Sarge design up so I can pretend like we got one in the 90’s! That’s awesome about Ames! I met him twice at comic book conventions, was cool because one time he looked more like Joe Sarge, the other time wrestling Sarge so I have really cool pics and autos of both and they were spaced out years apart so was really fun. I didnt recall you making the Marauder Sarge man those colors are perfect. Love seeing all the versions there together. My SDCC Sarge is on the shelf with my mostly 25th 80’s Joes, this Triple T with the green shirts who are on a riser, Marauders with the Renegades who are larger 25th, v1 with my Night Force who have Repeater & some Marauder customs and then Warthog who is smaller was thrown on the shelf with Mission Brazil so I have them grouped well with likewise scaled figures. Plus you are much more of a stickler than I am with scale. Haha. Yeah, Mail Order and Marauders Sarge were just really good customs I got off eBay back in the day. The people who made them did great jobs on the paint. Boots on Mail Order and the coloring on SM are both spot on. Really happy with those purchases and that I got to finally add some Sarge customs of my own to the group. Is so cool having the full group finally. Took forever for me to figure out how to tackle a Warthog version. Quote:
That’s funny, the only WrestleMania I went to was in that stadium as well. But I went to WM 29 for Rock-Cena 2. Taker vs Punk was definitely the high light of that show for me. One of the last live events I went to, then I pretty much quit after the Sting WM match. Got bummed out over how they handled that feud, then the show quality just fell off and I mostly just catch up on matches I missed from the past, the cool documentaries and listen to podcasts now. Wrestling was so great growing up though so I’ll always love the old stuff. Even when the quality drops, live events are a ton of fun though.

Thanks! Oh, man, you are lucky! I was dying for any actual Joe version of Sarge growing up. Haha, that big WWF figure got so much action with the Joe’s because a Sarge never made it to me. Now I have to ask my brother, I know we had Triple T and didn’t have Warthog. Assuming we didn’t have Marauders but not sure if he had the mail order or not. V2’s were usually only replacements for broken / missed figures for my brother so it’s possible he only had the one Sarge.

He looks great! Doing the wash style paint job sort of gives the camo look to the pants so not even sure if I’d touch that paint. Really like how he looks that way. Glad you have an awesome Sarge for your shelf! Thanks for sharing the pic! Love that head, I have to find another of that cast so I can have one displayed holding the hat.
Haha, yeah, we emptied out our old storage locker so we got a lot of our stuff. Good news is the NF Triple T was in there, I guess our original was lost to time though. Was holding a pristine one for $25 at the last toy show I was at and decided, “next time!”.....not realizing next time wouldn’t be for another year or two because toy shows wouldn’t be back for a while. Hopefully soon I can get a nice white Triple T and a mail order Sarge next time I hit one up. Thanks! Those two were really good eBay buys and with the two customs I finally finished, just a badass group of Sarge’s. Glad to be able to cross those off the list.

Both versions of Sarge look great, glad you decided to use different builds on them as I like seeing variety in other versions of the same character.

Awesome Hit and that is weird the only Wrestlemania I went to was that one in NJ haha as well, yeah cant beat the classics, I got big into WWE again about 2015’sh because of a workmate, friend, but kinda lost interest again, watch the main events here and there, but theres just too much to watch every week now, plus they’ve completely lost something now there’s no live audience even looks and feels even more faker lol.

Thanks, appreciate it! A lot of hours spent working on them but pretty priceless to have all of these guys in modern form that we weren’t going to get official versions of. Working on one right now that I always wanted as a kid so gonna be cool to finally have this version on my shelf in some form.

I was huge into it during the 80’s and 90’s, dropped off when WCW closed up shop and since I was watching that over Taker Ministry WWE stuff, just naturally stopped watching at that point. A buddy who never quit got me back into around when CM Punk had just started in WWE, then I road that wave until that Sting-Triple H match and a pretty bad Wrestlemania in general. At that point I ended my WWE Network subscription and stopped watching altogether. Gave AEW a year but lost interest once Jericho was out as champ so now I just watch old matches, the documentaries, some of the reality shows and I listen to a few podcasts. So had a really good run with wrestling, just changed so much like baseball that I eventually just easily dropped it. Sort of what you said with wrestling though, just way too many hours to watch per week, baseball games just take too long now. Makes things easier to drop when they just demand so much more time than you are trying to devote to them. Much rather spend those hours customizing, haha.

Up next is another that I’ve been wanting to re-do for a long time. Because of how unique they were with the crazy helmets with the launchers attached to the sides of their head, I was just immediately drawn to the two DEF members who had this unique feature. While Muskrat was my favorite of the pair, Mace was a new character that I also loved. I didn’t typically use the helmet missile launcher, opting instead to just go with their helmets but the cool colors, unique builds and great weapons always made them a part of my main squads, especially when paired up with the other DEF team members.
Knowing my very early MTF version was just a placeholder for me, I waited to find some inspiration before trying to tackle my official version of Mace. Then I saw Rob’s awesome Muskrat: https://www.hisstank.com/forum/5259249-post119.html And Steel Brigade’s awesome Mace: https://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-j...iverse-63.html These two customs really gave me some great ideas when it came time to finally make my official version because I just loved Rob’s idea of using the Gunner helmet for these guys and how accurate Steel Brigade went with following the colors & constructing his weapons. So with those ideas in the back of my head and a desire to make a modern version of my own, I started working on my Mace custom. Continuing my dive into some JoyToy Joes, I pulled parts from a few different blanks for this one because the vest I wanted to use did not fit the torso of the blank that I was using for a majority of the parts. So this build just called for me to spread out my pieces and grab what I thought best fit the character. I also snapped an elbow joint so that switched up some parts for me as well. So JoyToy body parts with a full paint job. A nice light gray for his pants and knee pads, black for his boots and the main color of his thigh armor and jacket. Then hit him with a base coat for the areas I wanted to pop with the Light Spice paint. I did some copper & silver accents to make his handcuffs & shells pop on the belt, then added a Marauder gunner mask which I also painted with the light spice paint to complete the look. Since the original Mace had such awesome yellow weapons, I decided to hit the gun with a few accents as well. I contemplated making a hole in the side of the helmet and using an Exo suit part as the weapon but opted to keep him more real world for now because the paint on the helmet just popped so well. It might be an idea that I revisit doing in the future though. For the head in general, I went with the marauder blonde curly look for unmasked and a yellow balaclava with the gunner mask when displaying him all geared up. Since the geared up look will be my preferred display, I opted not to paint the face since I’ll use that head for someone else. Really loving the final result. Definitely a Mace that I am happy to call my final version and I think he looks great with the rest of my growing DEF group. D.E.F. Mace Just love how the yellow pops off the jet black vest: With his JoyToy DEF brother, Shockwave: The rest of my growing group: Cleaning up the streets: And just some fun film noir effect shots I made while waiting for curbside:

D.E.F. Mace, awesome, liking your building up this D.E.F stuff dude! ;)
Yeah, the yellow does pop off the black, totally agree, your probably not much of a DC fan so you probably wont know what I’m talking about next but, does remind me of good ol’ The Ray with that color scheme, great character from the DC Comics, not so much in the Arrowverse shows though lol. Yeah man, love the gun you used for him too, respect! Ha, yeah I got drawn back into the WWE because of a buddy too, though I still watch it on an off but only important matches, stopped with RAW, Smackdown etc, takes too much time, yeah rather be doing something more constructive like customising or washing up haha. AEW I’m so behind on that its not even funny lol. Great work as always! ;) |
