Love the funskool looks, colors are nice and bright!

It's well established by now (IMO at least - disclaimer in light of recent unsettling posts on other 'Tank threads) that this thread is the place to turn to when something new, fresh and vibrant is needed!

Thanks! Definitely having fun with it, not even always because I’m trying to do something random, a lot of times it’s just actively avoiding trying to redo figures I already have from Hasbro or the Club. Typically only try and redo the ones that really need it like Iceberg.

I agree I really like the 25th builds. I used them on the majority of my MASK customs and still use them at times. They are true 3.75 unlike now where everything is going more 4 inch scale. Using them allows for same scale but different sizes which is true in cartoons and real life. I like the variety it gives.

The 25th Stalker while having its flaws is still my go to Stalker. I think it did the best at capturing the ARAH Stalker likeness. Love the group shot of all the versions you always take.

Hahaha. Now you have me trying to think of a custom on my list that has NO bright accents. .... .... umm, there’s gonna be someone like that again eventually! Definitely not tomorrow’s entry pending his paint sealing to expectations!

Yeah, I definitely still really like the 25th stuff. Some are dated, can’t hold their weapons or sit in vehicles but they have a fun charm to them. Plus like you said, gives the figures some variances in height, I know we didn’t have it as kids so it doesn’t bother me too much but cool to have some guys who are a little taller or shorter.

25th Stalker is still my go-to for the character. Never felt the need to make a custom of him because I just realty like that figure, same for the more yellow version and now this crazy Funskool one.

You should definitely take a stab at her! You always have really great gear up ideas so would be cool to see what direction you went in. Definitely want to do some more characters from the games, just such a cool cast to pull from.

Appreciate that! Definitely like to keep things light and fun in this thread. Really love tackling some of the real world looking Joe’s / characters but I’ll never turn down the chance to just make a random colorful fun thing that jumps off the shelf because the colors are so vibrant either. Always fun to see where everyone leans with their style in the custom threads and I don’t mind being one of the colorful / neon guys in the group. Haha.

Lmao, I was definitely getting that last shot with Jill and the other military police style Joe’s in before she went on a shelf. That’s my STARS team for now until I get some other RE figures done.

Haha, Hasbro was definitely thinking, “let’s give this kid a bright neon Joe to play with while he drinks his Surge and watches the Fresh Prince!” Made cleanup easy too because I never lost any of their weapons or figure stands!

I have no idea what Funskool was thinking! Haha. Their stuff is just so randomly colored that I really do think they spun the color wheel and just went with whatever it landed on.

Haha, okay so this one was a non-Joe I’ve been planning to make for a long time. Was one of those guys that was on the list but I had just never had the push to get started on. Then seeing Flint_Rocks’ awesome MASK stuff, talking some MASK with him and laughing at the Hondo MacLean exchange between Flint, Dod Ears and myself....it just finally gave me that push to get started on one of my favorite non-Joe figures.

Big assist from Rob’s customs for the vest paint idea, he was the first who I saw really break up the paint on these armored vests by two-toning them and I loved the idea and use it when I can now.

So MASK was a huge toyline for me growing up. Loved it but mostly had pieces of the Series 1 stuff and complete versions of half of the releases from Series 2 and 3. I played with both Hondo figures growing up but Hurricane was the vehicle of his that I had with all of the pieces so I just gravitated towards that being the Hondo I used a lot. Plus Hurricane was just such an awesome vehicle!

So I got started, Marauder tan camo guy as the base, base coat dropped down and then I started on Hondo’s unique color scheme. So a mix for the main jumpsuit, mix for the blue parts, spice for the orange / yellow parts and then I thought the Boss Fight blank head looked the most like Hondo so I moved forward with painting the hair, eyes and brows on that. Has a case of the angry eyes but they came out looking decent on my first attempt so I didn’t want to risk a re-do & making them look terrible. Haha. So he can just be angry at all of the bad things Flint_Rocks has said about the later year MASK releases.

A mask for him will happen at some point down the road, since I don’t have one for my original, my custom works without one for now. At some point he’ll get one though!

I've already told you but this is freaking AWESOME! It's not my Hondo, but it suits your taste. LOL. You killed it buddy. The side by side with the vintage figure really shows off your paint job. And I got the not so subtle jab at Firecracker at the end of the comic. We will address that later. LOL.

Seriously, in my opinion one of your best and of course near and dear to my heart being MASK and being 80s. Tough call for me between this and your Destro I love for my favorite custom of yours.

Haha, well since you said you weren’t touching series 2 or 3 versions of the main cast and this Hondo was always a huge deal to me growing up, felt like I had to get him represented in 1/18th. Love how close I was able to get to the original figure using MTF parts without any sculpting. Definitely lucked out with that and being able to figure out the colors.

Lmao! I do love Firecracker though, haha. I can’t lie and say it wasn’t an awesome vehicle.

Appreciate it because this Hondo is one I really love. Remember this guy being used a ton growing up and I never would have thought I’d ever see this version in Joe size, let alone be the one to make it. So definitely a big thumbs up for our MASK conversations pushing me to start working on him.

Hahaha, the Firecracker joke was intentional! The Boulder Hill shots were a last minute add when I started taking pictures so I can’t take credit for turning the screw on you with that one! You have all of that other awesome MASK stuff though so I need something besides Hurricane Hondo that you’re missing!

Thanks! Really lucked out with having a straight out of the bottle color for the boots and stuff. That would have been the tough mix to crack. Then the jump suit was a three paint mix with the blue being two shades combined. Love how close they all are.
