This is one I wasn’t planning on doing but once I started Ninja Force Storm Shadow and knew Hasbro did the card art version of T’Gin-Zu instead of how he looked in actual toy form, I decided to go all in for NF Storm Shadow’s mold brother.
T’Gin-Zu is one I completely missed growing up because I didn’t have any of the Ninja Force vehicles back in the day. When I started trying to complete the subgroup of figures as an adult, I found it cheaper to get the figure along with the Pile Driver so when I found one at a great price, I jumped at the opportunity. Could not have been happier because I always loved Ninja Force Storm Shadows design so while he had less paint apps, I still really took to T’Gin-Zu’s look. Just felt the blue & orange popped so well off the white. So fairly similar to the Storm Shadow I just dropped with a few differences just to keep them from being mirror images on the shelf. So again starting with the Retro Collection figure, painted the head, cut out a hood and sculpted the shoulder gear. To make him a little different, I not only attached the grenade, but also the sai to his belt and also the grenade & throwing star to his shoulders that the original had. Looking at the pictures side by side, I may move the grenade & sai off the belt and onto his torso to achieve the more toy accurate look but for now I placed him on my shelf as-is. Originally did the grenade on SS’s belt to avoid hiding the paint job but I think Gin-Zu might be better with his gear attached to the lower part of the upper torso. Really happy to now have not only a decent card art version, but now also a really good version of the actual figure version too. Ninja Force T’Gin-Zu Some shots with the Pile Driver since that was his vehicle: And then taking care of Slice & Dice!

Another banger. Like what you did with the hoods on both of them, as well. I've never found a shoulder harness I like for these guys, but have been hesitant to try and sculpt one, so extra points for doing that and making it look good.

Same, I looked at all of my Boss Fight pieces and the gear the Retro figure came with but because I wanted Storm shadow to be more accurate, sculpting felt like the only way I could achieve it. Had more luck with Storm Shadow than Gin-Zu, green stuff got a little tougher to mess with by the time I got to him so his doesn’t have the texture and detailing that I was able to do for Storm. Made it easier to hide a bit by attaching the accessories though so I’m satisfied. Probably easy fix if i sand it down a little like others suggested but I like that it’s a little different anyway.

Said it before - but worth repeating: I really enjoy your work, especially the diorama pictures you create that showcase your work. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! Made capes for a few guys before but these were my first hoods so glad they turned out well!

—————- And just updated the table of contents with a new block of nine! Another really fun group to make since a lot of them allowed quick turnarounds on parts I had just gotten in. I also got a combination of some figures I really wanted to do for the longest time, some that I really liked but never thought I’d do and then also some ones that were totally new ideas that I had not even thought about.

That T’Gin-Zu is beyond awesome! Great job withe the sculpt & colors! Also that Storm Shadow is spot on, with your excellent paint details I had to look at him twice when he was side by side with the original! =)

Oh, that paint design on Storm Shadow was soooo much fun to do! Haha. The original o ring version meant so much to me growing up so I love that I was able to do him justice. Also haven’t done too many different types of camo or designs with my paint jobs yet so always cool to work on something new. Plus any time I get to pull the vintage Storm Shadow off the shelf is a good day. Quote:
I haven’t done many ninjas yet, think my Shadow Ninja’s were my first real all in with them, so it was so much fun having all of the pieces that came with the Retro Storm Shadow at my disposal. Then getting to sculpt & add cloth pieces.....loved the entire process! As always, thanks for the comments, everyone! Much appreciated!

Close out the week with a figure who I absolutely LOVED growing up! We actually had three of him, so I’m pretty sure he was the first figure I ever troop built. Not sure how he got the nod over so many other troopers but I must have just really gravitated towards him on the pegs to talk my way into getting multiples of him.
For whatever reason I just completely missed the original HEAT Viper, I liked his look but we never had him and unlock Rock Viper, he wasn’t one that I remember staring at on the brochures constantly hoping to get one day. Then Battle Corps HEAT Viper came out and the story changed drastically! I don’t know if it was the lime green or the awesome helmet design but I loved this figure from day one so a modern update for me has been a long time coming. I knew I needed to find the right head and really commit to getting the uniform right before I tackled him though. So I knew early on that a Marauder build with a bandolier would be a great start, then I started full body paint jobs & got better at painting bright colors so the last thing on the list was a head. I grabbed a Fortnite figure on clearance one day and started really looking at him.....and it seemed like a dead ringer for HEAT Viper if I went all in on the paint job. So now I had my idea, build and it just came down to doing it. So happy to finally have this guy in my modern collection because he’s been in my head of figures I’ve wanted to build even before I started painting. I didn’t realize I ran out of grenade clips so need to grab a few of those to attach his grenades to his chest, also need to seal his arm pouches & gun to shine them up because they were late additions but I love this one. Battle Corps HEAT Viper With my other HEAT Vipers: Then taking out a Mudbuster with his rocket since it seemed like his primary function from his file card:
