Maybe the last of the week because of the holiday, this is one that I’ve always wanted to do but never could figure out how to get started. He’s more of a work in progress than most of my posts but I thought he had a cool look and I really liked how my pictures came out with the RAM & Adder so might as well share him.
Because of how late Battle Corps Flint came out, he is one of the last Joes I remember getting as a kid. This wave of Batte Corps must have come out at a time when I hadn’t really asked for Joes in a while so it was one of the rare occasions where my Mom just let me pick out everyone I wanted all in one shot. So I remember getting Flint, Stalker, Life Line, Shipwreck, Metal Head, Major Blood and maybe that purple viper. It’s possible that I also got the Scorpion & Manta-Ray that day too but those may have come the next time. This could have been a birthday haul too where I just got to pick my stuff out at the store, not sure, just remember it being the largest haul I ever got at one time. So one that i was planning on waiting for more WW2 parts for or Vietnam but because I’m not sure when those are coming and I’m still trying to work through these Contractors, I decided to see if I could do a good version of Flint with what I had. So started with the Contractor and sunglass head which I just left as is. Then did a full paint job on the Japanese WW2 hat, armor vest, some pouches and grenades. Really fun paint job because I never used this terra-cotta paint I used on the vest before and up until now, the cream had only been used on my flesh tone mixes. Now I realize by looking at the card art that Flint was supposed to be wearing his beret with some cloth added because he would be fighting in the desert. But growing up with the toy, the Japanese hat is always how I saw it. Some changes I may do down the road is painting the pants to match the cream I used for the hat & accent parts and painting the shoes black. Alternatively I may swap these out for MTF cloth legs and a sleeveless torso. So since I wasn’t sure if the build would change down the road, I decided to leave parts that didn’t need to be painted to accomplish the look the way they were. Looking at my pictures, definitely going to match the pants down the road and hit the footwear to make him more accurate to the original figure. While I wait to lock in the build, just enjoying finally having this version on my shelf. Battle Corps Flnt

I had that Flint! And again I was looking at him on "Yo Joe" the other day! I think the Japanese hat is a perfect choice & you did a bang up job with him! Nice to see this version actually recreated! I don't think you get enough credit for your dio-shots btw which are always a ton of fun and give each of your builds a story through pictures! You have been cranking out the goodness! ;-)

Yeah, I like that idea for the Japanese hat, too. I always thought it'd look interesting on some customs of the landing party from "Alien: Covenant".

Did you have the version I have that’s all tan or the one with the black straps & stuff on the legs? Never saw that other version before, knew something looked off but I couldn’t place it. Then I grabbed my original and was like OHHHHHH! Haha. Thanks! I appreciate it! He was such a badass figure back in the day so definitely enjoy adding him to my ranks. Now I have all of the original ARAH run Flints in my modern collection! Which reminds me, I need to take a group shot! Thanks again!!! I love taking the action shots with the effects and stuff, makes me feel better about having all these toys when I get to pull them off the shelf every so often so glad they are being enjoyed. Gives me a greater appreciation for the customs I do too since it allows me to see them in action as opposed to just being painted and placed gently on a shelf. Feels good to have a bunch completed instead of just in various stages of “in progress.” Haha, plus I’m laughing that I’ve made like 5-6 contractors in the past couple of weeks when I had like maybe one kitbashed and the rest in my bin before now.

Have to take a look at that crew again, I love Prometheus & Covenant, usually watch them once a year or so to give me an excuse to go down the Reddit rabbit hole where people are trying to explain the movies. Haha. The theories & people arguing over them are more fun than the movies themselves.

Night Force Action Man is such a badass build, awesome work!! I really like this character, mainly because Action Force (UK) was the first line of action figures I played with back in the 80s
Battle Corps Flint looks great, the Japanese hat suits him perfectly! I agree with SB, your dio-shots are always so elaborate and fun that I'd probably be in shock if/when you ever decide to skip one or two; they just tie so well with all of your builds! |

Cool to see Action Man customs. I have a soft spot for this version and he looks great. Not gonna lie, I think he might benefit from a black shirt.
Flint is excellent. Great vision on that one. And nice use of the hat. I was eyeballing those for my desert scorpions and I think you’re use Here has me convinced it’s a good decision.

I appreciate it! Haha, I usually try to get something in addition to just some standard custom pics so the plan is to continue them, especially if others are enjoying them. They add a little time to the process but it’s a nice reward to get to play with the stuff a bit after doing the work to customize them. Quote:

Thanks, I appreciate it! Love how the painted parts came out and this figure was always a favorite of mine so feels great to have a modern version. Oooh, I always think about doing a good Desert Scorpion so very interested to see that if you tackle him! Didn’t think about the hat possibly working for him too. Quote:
Man....I honestly think this is your best one yet. Seriously Flint could be packaged and put on the pegs and sold. It looks so much like the vintage figure. Again, never seen this version of Flint but he is my favorite joe...you know because he rocks...lol. Great work as always.
I really need MTF to restock some of the troopers as I have some ideas but so many are sold out. Haha, he does rock, especially this version! Battle Corps and Eco Warrior were my Flint’s growing up so this version has a strong appeal to me. Took me until a year or two ago to finally get the original o ring V1 Flint in my collection, it was worth the wait though! Love having my favorite three versions in o ring & modern. Hopefully the restock happens soon so you can get what you need! I need some white figures to do some of the guys on my list but I have some stuff to work with until they pop back up. Will likely run out of needed parts before I run out of figures.

Some group shots of my Flint’s since I forgot to take them earlier. Of course I realized now that I forgot my Ninja Commando version so I need to take an updated shot.
But the original four ARAH Flint’s: Then like one of each version I have:
