Up next is the last of the Iron Grenadier vehicle drivers and the last one to complete my set from 1988. Probably what I consider the goofiest design from the group and another figure that we didn’t have growing up.
Another all Marauder build, tried to add a few more paint apps & went with the camo pants to make the design a little more interesting. Wasn’t someone that I was too crazy about going in but he’s starting to grow on me. The gold and cherry red really pop in person and in the pictures so I’m happy I decided to tackle the build and complete the initial year of Iron Grenadiers. Iron Grenadier Ferret

The Ferret is one one those figures that I liked, but didn’t love, from the Joe line. That being said, I like that you are always stretching the boundaries of imagination with your customs. No challenge is too big, nor too small, with you and the MTF figure line! Another figure build that I wouldn’t have thought of!

Day 3 brings us the first Iron Grenadier update that I put together. Another that I didn’t have growing up due to him only coming with a vehicle at a time when I really was only getting figures. Out of all of the IG vehicle drivers, this is probably my favorite design.
Another easy Marauder build with a small amount of gold paint added to his arm gauntlet. Then a gun strapped to his back to give him the cord that plugs into his helmet. He goes great with the Iron Anvils so painting his goggles gold is a possible change I could see me making. For now I left him with the Marauder yellow / gold tinted goggles for a more realistic look. Great simple, execution. He really does look great with the Iron Anvils. BTW - what head is that? It looks like the original MTF Trooper head, but whiteout painted skin. It's not the Brynner head that's cast in skin tone - yours has hair. Last edited by Dod Ear; 06-18-2020 at 09:58 PM.. |

-Todd Shakka85 Haha, thanks! I’m enjoying using more WW2 and Boss Fight stuff in my builds but I can’t lie, it’s always fun when I get something unique out of a pure MTF build. Quote:
Looks like you forgot to add his code name - Wild Boar.

Didn’t realize how cool he looks with the Anvils until I got things set up for those pics. I have the paradrop Iron Anvil Officer too but since I don’t have Wild Boar’s vehicle, pairing him with those guys on my shelf works out well. I’m pretty sure it’s this head that I used: https://www.marauderinc.com/product-p/mtf-h9030.htm The original style MTF head but with a darker skin tone. Love how it looks so wanted to use it for a specific character instead of just hiding it under some gear on a generic guy. Gave Wild Boar a nice “something extra.”

Thanks! That Nullifier is becoming one of my favorites on my IG shelf!
—————— Close out the week with something that I absolutely love. One of the most fun customs that I ever took from the idea stage to finished product and something that I never would have imagined being able to accomplish when I first started customizing Joes. I missed this version of Destro when he was first released in 25th as a convention exclusive but eventually picked up both variants on eBay down the road. Once I got the gold version in hand I knew at some point I’d need to get an extra to open but then I watched the price continue to creep so I starting thinking about the possibility of making my own. Once I had a gold head cast of 50th Destro and the Boss Fight red Knight blank I knew I may actually be able to pull it off! Such a fun figure to make. Started with the BF red knight blank. Added some gear from their accessory packs, a marauder belt with some pouches, a holster & pistol and added a good bit of paint. Always love hitting the Boss Fight armor bits with gold accents but the highlight of this build was painting the fur pieces and the cape. Pimp Daddy Destro With some of the other IG’s. Love how he looks with the maroon long coats: A shot of my Destro’s together: And some work in progress shots:

Hahaha, thanks! Such a fun version of the character to work on. Really capped off this group nicely!
Thanks! Definitely one of my favorite customs that I’ve done. Haha, same! Came out so much better than I could have hoped.
