Thanks! This was a group I was so stuck with when it came to using Marauder parts so really happy to finally be making steady progress on them now.
Never heard of The Ray but it does totally have that vibe! I kept thinking he looked like a comic book character, it’s what prompted the black and white photo but I was thinking maybe because of Red Mask and the Marauder customs that people did of Deadshot using the Gunner mask. Also has an Eagle Force Returns vibe so want to take a pic of him with that group as well. Thanks, definitely got painting the guns from a few people. Think Axon, Slice & Rob all did that at points with their customs and I just loved it. With me doing more battle corps guys, really want to get more color painted weapons and stands for them. Haha, last time I watched any new stuff my wife made fun of me and that was it. I can take it being bad, I can’t be ridiculed by my wife for watching though. That was the final straw. My buddy and I watched my final Wrestlemania with her where Undertaker wrestled Shane o Mac. After everything that happened in that match, walking corpse vs a billionaire’s forty year old son......her only comment was that they loaded Shane up on the stretcher wrong or something. Haha, was so random after every ridiculous thing we had just watched. She’s enjoying the Treasures show with me where the wrestlers go hunting for their old memorabilia. Then we still have a bunch of Total Divas & Miz & Mrs. to catch up on because she enjoys those too.

Made me look another one up. Lol. Man the yellow is so clean. Excellent job. He turned out awesome and very true to the vintage. I really am glad you are turning out customs again. Such a great thread and I'm learning about 90s Joes through you.

Thanks! Yeah, I thought about hitting some of the buckles and stuff with chrome or silver but the yellow was so clean and popped so well that I decided to go 90’s Joe and leave the webgear all one matching color. Appreciate that. Yard work and just being bored with the parts I had left me stumped & burned out for a bit. With these new parts to mess with, feeling recharged enough to knock out more of my 82-94 list. So far so good and one in progress so here’s hoping I keep the momentum. Plus I know you won’t look these 90’s guys up by yourself so it’s the only way to keep you hooked on the awesome 90’s. Haha. Quote:

Yeah, that spice paint really popped in a way that I’m not sure my bright yellow would have. Really loving the paint job on this one. Appreciate that! Been fun taking down the Headman’s crew while I slowly churn out these DEF members. Hopefully I get some more of them out sooner than later. Quote:

He looks great! Doing the wash style paint job sort of gives the camo look to the pants so not even sure if I’d touch that paint. Really like how he looks that way. Glad you have an awesome Sarge for your shelf! Thanks for sharing the pic! Love that head, I have to find another of that cast so I can have one displayed holding the hat.
Haha, yeah, we emptied out our old storage locker so we got a lot of our stuff. Good news is the NF Triple T was in there, I guess our original was lost to time though. Was holding a pristine one for $25 at the last toy show I was at and decided, “next time!”.....not realizing next time wouldn’t be for another year or two because toy shows wouldn’t be back for a while. Hopefully soon I can get a nice white Triple T and a mail order Sarge next time I hit one up. Thanks! Those two were really good eBay buys and with the two customs I finally finished, just a badass group of Sarge’s. Glad to be able to cross those off the list. Mace...not sure where to begin...pure awesomeness man, yellow pops off the jet black vest so well. I'm loving every single aspect of this custom. Mace being a badass character and one of my favorites and you sir did him justice!! Gun painting, the use of the Gunner mask, excellent choice using that head/jacket but then you wouldn't stop there; you also had to throw a few bonus action scenes (as usual) including that black & white/color pic comparison right at the end. You killed it right there, kudos for such an outstanding execution!! |

Thanks man, I appreciate it. Now I really want to see the roster complete and your decision to add versions of Sarge using different parts inspires me to get creative as well. Love the ones you acquired on eBay. Beautiful group shot! I also hope you score a nice Triple T next time you find yourself at a toy show. I wish I could attend Joefest at the end of the month but it's happening right before my vacation starts. Are you attending?

Have fun on vacation! Thanks! Appreciate it! That’s awesome that he was one of your favorites, know I did a good job when fans of the character pop in to let me know they like what I put together. Haha, was so much fun doing all of those parts that you pointed out, along with the photo shoot and extra effect pictures. Really fun figure to visualize and they take to completion. Turned out better than I really expected it to. Haha.

Up next is another one who I really wanted growing up but it just wasn’t in the cards. The original Ace was a figure that I missed growing up (still don’t have him) so when they released a version 2 of him I was all in!.......except he came with a Battle Copter....and I already had Major Altitude & Interrogator. Loved the Battle Copters but vehicles were a big ask for me growing up so unfortunately it led to me having to pass on Ace v2.
Funny thing I found out while making this custom, we did have the AWESOME v3 Ace that came with the Ghoststriker, while comparing the two I realized that v3 was actually a repaint of this version. Never knew that. So this time I grabbed the pilot JoyToy blank as my base and started messing with some accessories. It looked like the shin guard, knee pad and thigh strap combo could make something that resembled the original figure’s uniform while also making it more modern in a way that Battle Copter pilots should really have a bit more protection so I liked the idea of strap on armored pieces. So blue paint job on his base uniform, black for his boots and an emerald teal for the armor and he was good to go there. I started with a full emerald teal on the vest, then decided that there were too many details to just cover up with one color so I decided on black & silver as the accent colors for Ace. The final step was the head, originally was just going with a head with the Marauder flight helmet but as I looked at the JoyToy head......maybe with a fun paint job i could make it resemble the original’s white helmet, green goggles and black mask. LOVE how it worked out once I sealed it and built the figure. So another that I am really happy to finally have because this was another that all attempts at building with Marauder parts left me stumped. I still haven’t called my v3 Battle Corps Ace kitbash “final” but unofficially, I now have all three versions of Ace from the original run. Ace v2 Battle Copter Ace In a Battle Copter: With his partner, Major Altitude: With the original run of Ace figure designs: Adding my other modern Ace to the group: Then taking to the sky:
