AF, great stuff man, loving Red Devil and Red Mist!
Hey, I was never into Transformers either back then :P Closest I got was the Action Force VS Transformers and GI Joe VS Transformers Marvel US an Marvel UK comic books! Oh, and the animated movie, kinda really loved that one! Shepperd’s dude is really cool too! Can’t say I remember his origin a part from knowing he betrayed Action Force, gonna have to find he’s back story in some Battle Action Force. ;) Cheers. Lee. I must admit I thought I would be in the minority on this site in having little knowledge of Transformers. I do remember the crossover stories in Action Force (didn't think they were very good though) |

Earlier on in this thread we discussed doing a figure of the Black Major before he was brainwashed into joining the Red Shadows, former Royal Marine and Action Force Officer John Shepherd. Due to a lack of parts I had to put that on hold but now that some more parts have started to arrive I finally got around to trying it.
Re-reading the Battle Action Force story for inspiration John Shepherd wore several outfits, most notably from the Action Force line the Royal Marine, Frogman and Arctic Assault. His Arctic Assault look is probably the one most people remember as that was what he was wearing when he betrayed his teammate and joined Baron Ironblood. Having made figures for each of those looks I did not want to just copy those builds with a new head, so I decided to come up with a new look inspired by the comic but not how he ever appeared. In the comic he always had dark rings below his eyes so I decided to try and replicate that (not sure how happy I am with how that came out). Loving this figure, especially the dark circles under the eyes. Usually I am a stickler for figures matching the media (in this case the comic) exactly, but this works. It has the spirit of John Shepherd, I knew it was him just by looking at the pic. Now you need a Sergeant Dillon and sharp icicle to complete the set!

Well your guys much better than Banzai, never liked that character they brought out, yeah Hasbro loves reusing moulds, nearly as bad as Pailtoy with Action Force... okay, not quite. :p
Yeah, the GI Joe vs Transformers comics were a bit weak as far as I remember, but I’m a sucker for comic book crossovers lol, still waiting for Marvel & DC to get their sh!T together and do more of that stuff like in the 80’s and 90’s, I blame Disney. |

the person most responsible for the lack of crossovers since the JLA/Avengers one is Joe Quesada after he insulted DC.

I would be up for DC/Marvel crossovers (I seem to remember a Punisher and Batman vs Jigsaw and Joker one), but I don't see it happening now (insult by JQ or not), I think both companies are focused on building their own universes and tying those together and don't want to bring outside properties into them. |

Crossovers within a universe are okay, but I tend to get annoyed at crossovers that jam together two other properties unless there's some multiversal interdimensional weirdness going on as it leads to me getting annoyed thinking 'Well, why doesn't X help Y to defeat Z and done with it?' or something. That was my biggest bug-bear with both Ancient Relics in AF Weekly and GI Joe/Transformers - why didn't the Autobots and AF/Joe team up and kick the snot out of Cobra and the Decepticons faster? Even within a universe, it can annoy me - like, where the frack was War Machine during the Avengers movie? Why doesn't Cap or Widow help thwart Killian in IM3?
