@Sataninjaku
I’ll start with critique: you HAD to go off and show everyone else up with that awesome rubbled war-torn diorama now didn’t you?!! J/K In all seriousness great job. I personally like to get parts to be unrecognizable when I can, not just straight repaints (Doesn’t always work out for me, and you gotta pick your battles) but with that personal preference in mind, I dig your modification to the IG helmet. It looks great like that, and I wouldn’t have recognized it. The sculpted hair worked out well to make him different from the other generic cobra troopers, too. I like the added holster. You and I would have both maybe picked better parts than just whatever we had in the fodder bin, but under the circs, it turned out great. |

What an awesome turn out for the first week of Project Quarantine!!!
I’ve been saving my comments until the end but I wanted to say I’m very impressed with all the submissions. @Ax - thanks so much brother for all the help organizing the threads and supporting the idea. Great custom also with an awesome helmet combo I would have never considered but it works well. @yeet - dude you know I’m a Marauder guys so I love the build. Also, kudos for having the right weapon too. @Ian - fantastic work as always! Super clean smooth paint job combined with a unique build. Definitely a show stealer for me. Also, I want to know more about airbrushing now. @playful & Ozzie- spot on recreations of the original. If I ever wanted to do an accurate update, this is the idea I’m going with. The problem for me is which webgear do I want because they both came out great. @zbs - another accurate build and unique helmet choice. It honestly inspired me to look at the helmet and see another custom I want to do in the near future. *hint - he wears a suit in the water. @slice - beautiful vibrant colors and very creative build. I am a huge fan of this one and he looks like a badass on the battlefield. Also, the hint of yellow in the knees was a great addition to even out the colors. @arbco avenue - cool custom that I definitely see as a driver. If your plan was to create their driver, you absolutely nailed it. I could see him driving the Create-a-Cobra and TARGAT on a mission right now. @sauza - similar to the other that went this route, very accurate update and came out great. Very respectable custom to have in any collection. @89pilot - man I’m loving this build and it looks great! I know you weren’t able to get the blue paint before you posted but it’s only going to make this figure that much better. @sataninjaku - holy shit for a guy who says he hasn’t done a custom in years, you absolutely went balls deep into this project and I think it paid off! Your paint job is very clean and I can’t tell if you airbrushed or hand painted. Picking all those parts to mash up is not an easy job and this is one to be proud of. Great job man! Can’t wait to see you all in the Super Trooper build next week. Last edited by ARBCO Avenue; 04-03-2020 at 06:40 PM.. |

Nice one Satan. You're certainly correct in saying that a lot of unseen work goes into getting things to fit when you originally think they will fit together without any problem. If I was to say anything critique wise ( who am I to even critique anyone anyway ) I'm never a fan of hefty web gear, even on factory figures!! I feel sometimes it's just too bulky. It's really more of a personal preference than a critique so please don't let that detract from your work. You should be proud. Great work!!

I do plan on using it for some stop motion though, so I can always add to it. @ everyone: I've tried to keep the appreciation until the very end, so advance apologies for the soon to follow wall of text (again).

Big thanks to this thread and Yeet’s build here, definitely were the inspiration for me to get my own version of this figure done. Was fun going back through this thread again and seeing everyone’s awesome version of the character.

Wow I can’t believe it’s been five months now... It was a great trip down memory lane looking at the customs in here and remembering how much fun it was to get together with everyone. Probably the highlight of 2020 for me.
