Ha! Honestly? Longer than this guy deserved - Hours upon hours, but it was my second 3D render ever, and 1st 3D portrait ever, and I didn?t yet know the more efficient techniques I am learning now. Can?t wait to show off much better things that took far less time.

That's awesome work on that head, man. It looks like an Atlas from Battletech. Did you model it from scratch, or modify an existing model? I have a 3D scanner and have gotten decent at modifying sculpts wholesale to get exactly the look I want, but starting from scratch is still beyond me. Either way, it's gorgeous.

Man sky is the limit for you now it seems my friend! From concept - 3D sculpt - printing too?
Very awesome, hope to start my journey with 3D sculpting sooner rather than later so I can start jamming with you!!!

Thank you for the encouragement, and for stopping in and commenting once again, Foxtrot. I consider you a fellow innovator in creating new forms.
Awesome, Z! Can?t wait. Yes, it?s a whole brand new level! Still have tons to learn, even while learning new things all the time, which excites me. What I love about Hisstank is how my awesome fellow Tankers are helping me out along the way. |

Four out of five of the first entries in this thread were based on art by Massive Black artist Wes Burt. Those included Mission Baroness, Arctic Ripcord, Storm Shadow and Zartan. Wes Burt?s art also inspired cool figures like Pursuit of Cobra Jungle Duke and POC City Strike Beachhead. I wouldn?t be surprised if it were true that the buck I used for this figure #12 was specifically created for Retaliation wave 1 Roadblock using the concept art I am showcasing here. Without further ado, the most ARAH-true concept I?ve used yet?

Front pouches were 3D printed. The rest of the build was a bit of a journey. Documented thoroughly in my old WIP at starting at post #78 https://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-j...os-wips-8.html Ha! Maybe you noticed that this was started a long time ago! He looks like a generic enough Roadblock, but each step kind of intimidated me a little (shaving Big Lob’s head, elongating the webgear, articulating the knees, adding rocker ankles…), so there were big gaps where I left him alone and did easier things. Glad to have him finally done. Last edited by ARBCO Avenue; 05-28-2023 at 01:12 AM.. |

Also, shout out Zap for his invaluable tutorial from 2018 that I used to make double jointed knees:
https://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-j...ted-knees.html I used my own method for the ankles. Last edited by ARBCO Avenue; 05-28-2023 at 01:25 AM.. |
